What in the world do you think is going on haha?
Here's hoping we hear some San'layn news at Blizzcon!
The game has too many playable races as is.

I hope so too! And with all these new assets, who knows what they're planning. I feel like it's something big. Some have said possibly a recruitment scenario.

I disagree, and anyway you're free not to play what they offer. Some people like variety and the ability to play other kinds of races. It appears they're working on base race customization and armor anyway too.

How's that even possible? I can understand saying too many classes (which I wouldn't agree with), but too many races? No way.

Was that just added? 8.1? It looks new and high definition.

There's an online model viewer that some look through and find files from, it's sorted by patch from what it seems, so when new stuff is added the people on the discord tend to find it quickly (The previous files had been looked through already, now it's just about finding more). We don't know where they're getting the data though. It just pops into the model viewer, so do take this all with a grain of salt, however with all the WoW files there and pretty much them being mixed with stuff already hosted in terms of articles and all that, I don't think it's a big ruse.

I'm not going to post it here just in case it's a bad thing, and of course I'll stop posting the stuff from the discord if told to. We haven't been told to stop sharing these screens and filenames yet though, and it's very excellent for sharing and bringing hype since these files do seem to be coming for 8.1.

I don't see how it wouldn't be legit data though to be honest, I just am worried because WoWhead hasn't said anything on this stuff x.x
I approve, i would like more undead, and a race being edgy hasn't stopped them before.

They where in Icerowns basement the entire time.

Right where we never expected.

Okay I'm pumped. As long as more San'layn stuff keeps appearing, it means they are still relevant, so that's exciting!

But honestly, with how things are going with Sylvanas, and how they keep telling us we are not going to garrosh her, it seems that she is getting more and more undead that would be loyal to her over the horde, so here's the thing.

What if we get playable San'layn, but as part of Sylvanas own, third faction, and not Horde?

Bolvar's been keeping them in the naughty hole until they behave. Guess well have to avoid his wrath.
I don't understand comments such as "there are too many playable races" or "too many elves"

People like variety, people like choices, you don't have to play these races, the more the merrier when it comes to playable races. San'layn would be an amazing addition.

Here's to hoping for San layn announcement at blizzcon. It would be cool to see a Sanlayn teaser around halloween. My huntress was a blood elf but I wanted her to be like slyvanas a dark ranger since day 1.

I also made an undead hunter but they do not feel the same. I hope we see them playable since our beloved dark lady is basically a dark ranger. I could imagine them making more san layn in a silvermoon warfront. Where we have to rez sone fallen high elves to help protect the kingdom as a last ditch effort. I would also like to see Slyvanas' brother brought back as a blood prince. I think theres a reason why they put him in the comic. We might have 4 elves represented through the windrunner siblings. High elf void elf undead and sanlayn.

Sadly it seems the amount of blood elf representation via lore figures isnt very high due to high elves stealing the spotlight.

Now THERE is a very interesting idea. An all out Windrunner civil war would be amazing tbh. The revelation that Sylvanas had planned since the start to conscript the San'layn to revive Lirath would be awesome.

2v2 Windrunner smackdown would the such a treat. It would have to center more around the Ghostlands to focus on all the related family drama and the contrast between the Second and Third War, but it could be such a good idea of contrasting why half of the Windrunner is on the alliance while half is on the Horde.

I like that it would keep Eversong safer for the Blood Elves, but yeah, Blood Elves + San'layn vs Void Elves + High Elves would be the ultimate Elven thunderdome

PS: Wait, maybe Sylvanas learned how to raise Night Elves thanks to the San'layn.

I actually tossed that idea around in a previous thread.

That was before I knew how locco in the coco she's become. Now I actually think she's twisted enough to do it.

I think it will end up being that the existing San'layn aren't able to recruit new members from the Blood Elf population due to the holy infusion from the Sunwell. This would mean they would have to set their sights on the Night Elves.

So perhaps they taught Sylvanas (who taught Nethanos) how to raise elves as San'layn. Maybe this was the true reason for the attack on Teldrassil?

As for why these Night Elves were so ready to serve Sylvanas, maybe they were already working for her and were the spies on the inside that "opened the gates" for her. It could be something like they were fearing death after the loss of Night Elf immortality and wanted to become undead to "live" forever.
I confirmed with the creator that the assets are not new. They won't be in 8.1. Sorry guys. There was a lot of hype for nothing. What a shame.

Hold your horses, I wouldn't say it was for nothing. Even if they're not going to be in 8.1 they still might show up later down the line. Besides, have we actually seen the blood ritual in game? I've played through quite a bit of WoTLK content as well as Nazmir and haven't come across it. Perhaps it was a piece of cut content that could possibly be used later?

In the words of Kaelthas Sunstrider: "Tempest Keep was merely a setback!"

Even if the assets aren't new they were still a pretty good "pick me up" for those who haven't seen them before.

because blizzard has never tried to throw us off of a trail with wrong datamining, or straight up lying to us before right?

that would be so fun to play through, the Horde is getting pushed back all the way to the Ghostlands thanks to the combined forces of the Silver Covenant and the Void Elves, Sylvanas and her Dark Rangers and the Blood Elves losing more and more ground until they are cornered. Alleria and Vereesa decide to do the "right" thing and tell her to surrender (because that's worked so well in the past) saying that if she surrendered now no more harm would come to the Blood Elves and they wouldn't push the fight into Eversong Woods. but then Lirath shows up saying that it is they who should surrender and a bunch of portals open up showing off the San'layn army that had been lying in ambush.

Ok you all have very fair and good points :) made me smile. I did find out though that several blood Prince doodads have indeed been tweaked for 8.1 though. So I'm not entirely correct in saying that everything is lost(it hasn't been to begin with).

Age of Mythology voice: "All is NOT lost..."

In all seriousness there still indeed might be something coming up...
