San’layn/vampyr Elf ALLIED RACE Coagulated Megathread of Ideas{Re-VAMPed} (Part 1)

*bonks Rorr on the snout*

lightforged undead are my trigger!

So this... this is how the Battle for Azeroth breaks out in earnest.

*fixes snoot*

There shall be much blood spilled this day.

Yeah the newer one is more HD, a smoother blade, more defined crystal with the glow, center of the orb looks a tad different.

Eh.. I'm having a hard time seeing it. But if it's a new asset, it's a new asset, and that's still good news! New assets for San'layn can only be a promising development.

It’s definitely very subtle, since that banner was actually pretty well done and high-res to begin with, but it’s added in with the 8.1 files alongside the one on the pole which is entirely new.

I'll take your word for it!

If that's the case, then we'll either be seeing that bad boy in the embassy and/or in a San'layn saturated area, ideally their racial "town?"

These guys are coming. I can feel it. If that happens, I suppose I'll be joining you folks over on the evil faction (sometimes).

I’m an art major and it’s rather difficult for me to spot, so I don’t blame you. Buuuuut, they could be used in a small camp like what we see for each faction on the other’s continent (the little footholds), but I still think we could see them somehow during the Darkshore warfront/questline on hordeside if it’s incomplete. Of course, that’s just me being hopeful, what with it mostly up right now, but we haven’t seen the horde’s side of the warfront, have we?

Either way, there has to be something in the works for them!

Don't feel bad I didn't see the difference either until it was pointed out. The untextured blood prince model is really pointy and jagged. Is there a reason behind that?

Edit: The flag on the right side of the screen looks like we're looking at it's reverse side. Like it's flipped.
Great developments but remember to always manage expectations.

We're thinking he's untextured so might be currently a work in progress. Either that or a shadowy figure.

inb4 it's just Dreven who has been revived due to some sort of blood orb shenanigan that has given him a more undead look while keeping the base model for san'layn.

Yeah good point, we also have no idea where Dreven's body is, so perhaps it either washed ashore or there was an unstated thing that happened in which it was taken by the Horde in order to revive. Hopefully we will find out soon.

I would not complain if it just ends up to be Dreven, because then we’d have THREE Blood Princes parading around, what with Atherann and Theraldis MIA and all.
Reminds me of the fact we had a trio of them in ICC...

I still think we might get a reverse blood halls fight, where we get 3 princes (theraldis, Atherann, and Dreven if he gets rezzed) that end up resurrecting Lana'thel or Thal'ena for a racial leader. Or even something extremely neat.... lore we don't know yet. How do we get a new Blood King? Or Blood Queen? What if the ritual would be creating a new one?

I honestly think that the San'layn racial leader should 100% have wings like Lana'thel. And if it's actually Lana'thel, but brought back and redeemed somehow? I'd be incredibly thrilled. I doubt it would be the case, but still something fun to think about. I think the only possibility I like more is that one of the Blood Princes does become a Blood King, because it would be sweet to see a male San'layn with those wings.

I would love that sort of scenario either way. It’d be really neat to explore the ascension of a new blood king/Queen, or how they raise one from death.

So, I get you guys want San'layn. I really do.

But spamming the forums with megathreads and being very defensive and snarky to people who disagree with you is very off-putting to me, and I'd venture to guess it's off putting to quite a few other people as well. Even if they're not being the nicest to you, fighting fire with fire doesn't always look good or end well either.

I want to point out your incorrectness right here before you decide to continue spreading this misinformation.

My response is this:
--> These threads are not spam. We're on megathread number nine, and these threads are used for sharing ideas on San'layn and consolidating the discussion to one thread, which people tend to appreciate, rather than having a number of varying threads on the subject matter all over the forums.
-->If these threads were in fact spam, they would be removed by now.
--> See this dev response:

10/02/2018 06:25 AMPosted by Eleroleron
Do the blizzard employees debate about the High elf/Blood elf race definition, especially when all those repeated threads pop up?

Ever since we found out Allied Races were a confirmed thing we've talked about the idea of who/what could be an allied race all the time. It's a never ending conversation now because of the possibilities it opens up as playable races. We actually love the large discussions it's popped up among you guys. I mean megathreads that are spanning tens of thousands of posts total across all of the capped threads? That's just cool. No other feature in WoW as an idea has had that much engagement.

Source: https://us.battle.net/forums/en/wow/topic/20765836893?page=17#post-340

--> That dev response counts for every single megathread and in reference to all Allied Race ideas. Ergo, this is not spam.
-->We are not in fact snarky to every single person that disagrees with us. If you've been paying attention to the discussion, you'd have noticed that people of whom bring up valid counterarguments and are respectful are treated in kind. People come in here extremely rude and spam 'no more elves' along with other things, without having even bothered to read the first post. I tell those in this thread to ignore them because it isn't worth it, we've heard it many times over by now.
--> If by 'being snarky' you mean defending an argument, then we will continue to defend against arguments we see as nonsensical despite apparently some people being 'offended'.

And finally.

-->We're not asking you to support us at all, especially when you falsely accuse us of doing such things, say our threads are spam when they are not, and the like. If you have an issue, you can feel free to leave the thread unless you have something actually constructive to say.
-->We have received many compliments over the past few threads that we are an upbeat and positive community, therefore I venture to guess that your assumptions are being pulled from someplace else.

---------------

Let's continue to be productive here, folks. I want to respond to someone who I missed recently due to other things being brought up first.

I love the idea of discussing the racial 'town' and such. And your enthusiasm, of course :D You know we'd love to have you. Anyway, I still think a revamped En'kilah would be super neat. Like I said, it was the largest concentration of San'layn in the area back when Northrend was a thing. If we don't get a necropolis (which come on, would be cool!) I think that area would be lovely. The Alliance would have to get a Northrend race and hub as well... where could it be, you think? WHO could it be? Hmm...

Tuskarr.

Opens Pandora's Box.
The banners did get me excited. But you know what the most interesting thing is?

The Fog.

In vampire fiction, the fog is always used to indicate a few things.

1. The vampire is approaching, either through the landscape or towards his chosen victim. Either on foot or in a carriage by his thralls.

2. The vampire has awoken. His coffin has creeped open or the sun has set and his presence is bearing down on you.

3. You are in the vampire's lair. His presence has seeped into the very walls and you can feel the eerie chill in the air.

Given the context with the banners, and the fact that the fog is not dynamic I say #3 is the most likely one.

We shall enter the lair of the Vampire, and we shall learn what dark secrets he has to hide, and what future awaits us all.

There's still more San'layn than nonsense made up void elves, which should've been Krokul broken as I will never tire of saying.

I'm against more elves. All I have to say.

There are as many human playable races as there are elf ones. I guess if you don't count trolls, that is. Then again, it's fitting that there are so many playable offshoots of the elves/trolls considering how ancient they are.

I'm all for mixing up the allied race bag with some wildhammers or broken, however.

P.S. remove void elves from the game pls

also we aren't demanding that San'layn be added at this very moment (even though i'm pretty sure we'd all love for them to be playable right now), we just want them to be considered and thought of when they look for an undead allied race.

Oh boy, that's pretty haunting and I hope that becomes a reality of something dark and scary. You make a good point, and now I'm thinking that perhaps they've been chilling in ICC this entire time, or somewhere in Northrend. If we go to their lair, it would be really neat, and I'm excited to hopefully learn more about Blizzard's take on the vampire.

We've gotten only bits and pieces from them in terms of lore, and many other games have their own vampire lore. Playable vampyr would be super cool and quite fun, especially if more lore is given to them.

Yeah wildhammers and broken would be entirely fair too, I hope to see many people get the Allied Race they want to be honest. I've seen some neat things proposed for Broken indeed.

You fool! Lightforged Undead are in that box, don't let them out!

*welds the box shut*

Calia is more than enough, and even then... Ugh.

Anyway, joking aside. All of these datamined assets are getting me hyped again! Hopefully this marks the San'layn's retribution on the Alliance for killing Dreven, that would be pretty sick if you ask me!

The thing that has me intrigued though is that banner. it looks like it would go in the Orgrimmar embassy.

I thought that when I saw that banner the first time too. All it needs is a pole to stand on, and it blends in perfectly.
