WoD is the worst for me. SL is definitely neck and neck with it though. BfA would be above SL. Second worst on my list.
Yeah. You’ll probably need to look on the Armory if you don’t want to take my word for it.
I did most of the content in BFA including the high end content. I thoroughly enjoyed BFA. I would rank it as Blizzard’s best probably because of all the options of things to do.
I don’t rate expansions based just on zones. Also the zandalari temple was awful.
The majority of BFA content was straight dumpster though.
If it makes you feel any better, the next expansion will be bad too. So will all the expansions that follow it. All the previous expansions were bad too, even Wrath. The proofs are written in stone. Stored in GD forever and for posterity’s sake.
WoD>Cata>BFA>SL, imo.
The more Blizz tries to obfuscate the gearing process, the more I dislike the expansion.
then why are you here ? Not being mean or anything, but why.
Probably the only good take here, and mainly due to the sarcasm.
Wrath made the game more accessible and it upset elitists who complained about welfare epics, so Cataclysm pushed casual players aside to make the elitists feel more prestigious with their rewards. So people stopped playing.
Shadowlands did pretty much the same thing. Elitists complained about the stuff casuals were getting with TF, warfronts, and Horrific Visions. Basically if it had a reward, the elitist HAD to do it (much like the Wrath to Cata transition).
So the Devs messed up the game for everyone else to answer their cries.
It’s just an example of history repeating itself. Cata and Shadowlands are pretty much the same-feeling expansion, IMO.
But imagine designing the game to appeal to people who don’t want to play it very much.
Warlords of Draenor still felt like World of Warcraft. Battle for Azeroth was better simply because the daily world quests were better and we had a flight master whistle… AND there was no Maw in Battle for Azeroth. Also, the reduction in levels should not be appreciated by anyone who was already here. This expansion is the worst one and anyone who says otherwise is in denial with their head too far up Blizzard’s a** to see the forest from the trees because the pandemic inevitably rendered this the worst expansion so how can anyone honestly not think it’s the worst expansion when IT IS.
At least it’s an expansion that’s good for one thing - finding out who’s delusional, who’s sucking up to Blizzard a little bit too much, and who’s lying.
I’m curious if you think that WoD was Blizzard’s best because it was so Orc-centric? Wondering if that factors into your preference because I really disliked WoD. To each their own just that it always seems that Orc players love WoD.
If I was to pick my favorite by zones it would be: Netherstorm in BC, Crystalsong in Wrath, Deepholm for Cata, Pandaria is a difficult one because theyre all pretty nice, Nagrand (probably) for WoD, Suramar for Legion because omg its so pretty, BFA would probably be Stormsong and everyone knows Ardenweald is the only SL zone that matters.
Seems like Shadowlands is legion with an 8 month patch cycle.
It’s really not the systems story or content that brings it down. It’s game play and using the systems, story, and content to drag 3 months of content into 8 months of subscriptions that destroys it.
i think im rating on the wrong scale lol.
which makes me realise again that people play for different reasons. That HAS to be difficult to develop for.
I play for orcs, dragons, wizards, lord of the rings type stuff. Been into it since warcraft rts days. I play for quest lines, exploration, finding hidden stuff, and sometimes chasing cool armor and mounts, like the hidden chest in ardenwood, or the rare elite that doesnt show up on the mini map. I play to live out some lotr fantasy , not roleplaying or anything though.
I rate on zones, art, cinematics, story, class feel, i remember going inside azeroth for the first time and flying around in the gigantic crystal cave. ANNNNNNYways
Fun raids and probably the best pvp system WoW has ever had. I also liked garrisons. It definitely wasn’t perfect. Severe lack of content, and the story was absolute dookie, but WoW storytelling usually keeps the bar pretty low, so it doesn’t factor much into my opinion of an expansion.
Outside of the legendary ring, you could pretty much just gear up a character and hop into dungeons/raids/pvp, whatever suited your fancy, and I really miss that about older expansions. This idea of gearing up, then having to collect Artifact Power/Azerite/Renown/Legendaries/Anima/etc has really killed my desire to do anything other than level alts and play old content.
Shadowlands is the 3rd worst xpac?
No, SL is thee worst xpac. That’s quite a feat.
I actually had more fun in BFA because everyone was going nuts in Warmode.
Shadowlands, despite amazing zones like Revendreth and Ardenweald, is just kind of smothering me in mobs with too much health.
Also, pvp needs to revert to set templates for each class. Legion felt like a step in the right direction, BFA felt like a step back. What’s the point of pvp without a level playing field? We already have Wpvp.
WoD was one of the worst designed pvp systems to the point the majority hated it.
Competitive pvp is ranked not quick match.
I don’t understand the Cata hate honestly, besides Dragon Soul I think it was a great expansion especially for PvP.
