my idea is if you earn rating in a given season you have a choice of elite set from prior expansions at the cost of the current season set. but if you want one from like legion you’d need to get the 2200
Any of that is fine. Just give people a reason to play. Using the same elite set for season 3 AND season 4 is ridiculously lazy on Blizzards part. They can’t even be bothered to recolor a set AND THIS COMPANY STILL CHARGES PEOPLE 15 a month lmaooooo
it was like that in legion. sets would span 2 and 3 seasons
They’ve been doing it since wod.
Sets were 2200 until Tyrannical (mop) and 2k in legion.
so yeah earn the rating and have a choice of those sets. or do 1800 for current sets
Ok, I’ll get 2.2k for a new elite set? I’m simply asking Blizzard for new rewards
As an evoker who only started to try the class last season (I was initially put off by the ‘advanced class’ description as I prefer simpler classes) I am really gutted that the tier set we voted for has been brought back for everything except as an elite pvp reward, which is the set I wanted the most. ;_; It’s also completely removed any incentive for me to pvp this season.
I actually never pvp and specifically voted for s2’s appearance on druids in hopes i could maybe complete the set this season. I even already dedicated my season mark of mastery token to pvp so i could get the jump on it only to find s3 is what im collecting. It actually really makes no sense when you claim things are time sensitive. Then explain why season 3 is so special it is getting another season chance? I really would like them to address this as well.
LOL, I put in a ticket and blizzard directed me to this thread.
I asked them to pass it up the chain that there has been no official comment from blizzard here
No updates to my ticket on 06/05/2024 either
They have had sets across multiple seasons in the past. I believe legion had sets for 2 or 3 seasons each time. They didn’t make new tier sets, so the pvp sets are given a second season instead of having nothing. They are still time sensitive, the lack of previous sets being available is a factor of the PvP community’s backlash to making old elite sets available.
That is odd though. I figured that they would say it is working as intended in the ticket, or direct to a thread where someone stated it was working as intended. That sounds automated, like it identified a similar thread and told you to look there after the step ‘check wowhead’.
I hate to doompost, but it’s already Monday 1:30 PM and yet no news, so we should just assume S3 sets are staying and that we pvpers won’t be included in community voting in the future because this silence is deafening.
I will enjoy the 15% buff to DC, but I guess me playing a class in which I have already the 3 elite sets of DF is irrelevant to the purposes of this thread.
Yeah, MoP had s14/s15 sharing the elite set and tabard, WoD s2/s3 had the same elite sets though the tabard switched to the other faction color and Legion had s1/s2, s3/s4 and s5/s6/s7 sharing sets. Nothing new at all, been happening for like a decade now at the end of the expansion.
The sets are labeled as season 3 and 4 sets in game, that is an in-game answer to the questions here.
You could buy the elite set with the ksm token even. The horror, pveing for a pvp mog!
Everyone says 1800/elite sets mean nothing anyway so who cares. Honestly rip the band aid off.
What? Higher rated pvpers quit in protest? Doubtful but Oh well if its get more ppl into the mode.
Thank you all for the updates with regards to tickets. I would like to think that PVPers were not excluded from voting that was for ‘Season 4 appearances’ and not specifically ‘PVE’ appearances.
If you happen to get a response that seems promising (whether a definite ‘yes’ or ‘no’), please also provide the question you asked as wording can be key.
Happy Monday!
The sets are labeled “Dragonflight Season 3 and 4” in the appearances window for all classes. This is an answer, and it is in line with their previous stance on PvP sets.
PvP players were involved in the voting, however due to previous backlash from the PvP community Blizzard does not bring back old elite sets. This has been their stance for a very long time.
It is a shame then that no precedence was linked within the official polls to denote that S4 appearances excluded a very particular colorization in it.
My hope, whether there is a ‘yes’ or a ‘no’, is to:
- Prevent this from happening again. There needs to be text to exclude the Elite sets because as seen on this thread, individuals voted based off their set preference for PVP. Nothing stated otherwise.
And:
- Showcase that those of us who earned season appearances that are forever unavailable now, are fine with it if it overwhelmingly won a community vote in this unprecedented circumstance.
I consider my DF S3 set an old elite set, and it has come back for another season. What should make my DF S3 less special than my DF S2? The implementation of S3->S4 cancels out the outrage over Elite sets being available yet again for another season.
At this rate, I would just give everyone a token for the last season of any expansion (If this pattern continues) to pick out any previous DF season PVP appearance if no further Elite sets will be designed. Then all are equal opportunities then versus ‘bringing back’ S3 for S4 exclusively.
Ideally, I would prefer new appearances for a S4 so none of this is a problem. But this is not what we were given, and instead a vote with ambiguous verbiage that did not exclude any appearance directly for the community to read when casting their vote.
The difference here is that it was never removed. Legion had sets that were available for multiple seasons as well, that did not make them less special. Much as you call it unprecedented, multi-season sets and old sets being permanently retired are not unprecedented. Blizzard determined that the backlash from the PvP community to making old elite sets available was more trouble than it was worth, therefore they do not bring those old sets back. I do not disagree that they could’ve been clearer on the vote, however the information on the vote was poorly presented across the board, many, many people did not even know that there was a vote, as you can easily see from the fact that votes are so few across the board.
I did not play in Legion, nor did I know there was outrage regarding ‘old Elite sets’ - Despite the fact old Elite sets still technically do come back?? I think we have learned to accept it IE Shadowlands S3/S4, however SL never offered a vote. This was the first time a community vote was made for appearance sets. Legion was 2016 to 2018 if this is when the decision was made.
It is 2024 multiple expansions later in DF, and I agree with you that the entire ‘S4 appearance voting’ was poorly worded and subsequently executed, and not everyone is aligned with what actions were taken by the community and/or Blizzard back in '16-'18 with Elite sets. If such verbiage explained ‘The Why’ from a decision made back in 2018 or earlier*, this thread would not exist and we could infer voting did not include Elite PVP sets.
