Rules of Engagement: Classic Hardcore is Coming to World of Warcraft

The new meta will be group leveling in the world. People will do what’s safest even if they don’t really want to. This is the human condition, take the easy path, especially if others are.

Also, if you removed leave group hearthing petri would still be useful but you would have to get to a safe spot. This would be much more balanced as there would be partial wipes (and full wipes on a few bosses where you can’t back out.) As it is, raids are the safest place in hardcore wow.

Finally, trading from level 1 means that after a few months the whole game will break. Make it level 20. Most people die in westfall anyway.

In the article it states all quests that flag you are changed to not do that. and quests that would kill you like the videre elixir will not kill you

people will 100% figure out how to power level without the use of dungeons to rely on.

people have been removing what makes classic wow so great ever since classic came out by power leveling and exploits and min maxing

Maybe, but assuming that the person is going to be rolling a new character anyway, why not huh?

It might even encourage more people to play non-HC.

while we’re at it lets get RestedXP banned since it utilizes logout skips and similar in addition to being a paid guide

24 hours dungeon lockout and significant mob XP decrease from being grouped with higher level player. I dont think so.

Mob taggin elites in the world MAYBE.

By the way - would be awesome if blizz made a death announcements on hc realm like it’s now in addon xD

Huh? It’s not a subset of rules. LOL. It’s simply one of the many base rules within the hardcore add-on. This is all happening because of the community that has sprung up around the add-on with its standard set of rules like no trading, AH, etc. The other “achievements” as they are referred to that you talk about are in addition to the base rules. Hardcore as it has been played within WoW is far more than just “perma-death.”

Play your Challenge. Its a Hardcore CHALLENGE.

Hardcore by definition is the game played normally with 1 life. Not a Hardcore Challenge created by the community.

Battlegrounds would still be nice, just remove the gear rewards and make death ok for them. BGs are more fun when people aren’t super geared anyways.

LET’S GOOOOOOOO! Super excited!

Server-wide death announcements might be so never-ending that they cause even more deaths having them clogging your screen all the time. Maybe Blizz could make a daily heat map instead?

Very much this. I think blizzard establishing base rules then community building on top with additional rules if they want is the great middle ground. surveys conducted with thousands of answers have been evenly split down middle about trading/Ah vs no trading/AH. so no matter which choice would have half community unhappy, but at least blizz chose the one that allows both halves to be happy if one half just continues using the HC addon but on these new realms, simple.

It will keep people in the world which is cool. Seems reasonable to prevent the dungeon spamming meta

One of the add on devs made a new hardcore add on with selectable Rules that can be pushed to a guild level. Probably did this with HC official realms in mind I imagine this add on will take over with official realms.

The addon can still be used for the playstyle which is SOLO at the end of the day.

Was the best decision.

Man I really can’t wait for this fad to fade. The relaxed restrictions should speed it up though thankfully.

Yep, exactly. It’s non issue. Addon will thrive, old playstyle that exists now on era will thrive on new realms, and those who just want to casually non addon it will thrive. Everybody wins.

The only thing we really need to keep an eye on is server stability, and the quickness of enforcement for grieving since the biggest loss here is the appeal council of era realms that would go “yeah that death doesn’t count”. on official servers, there is no “that death doesn’t count” so that is the real biggest issue that we need to wait and see, not AH vs no AH.
