Rules of Engagement: Classic Hardcore is Coming to World of Warcraft

I dont think trading/mail will be as big of an issue as you think. On HC realms everyone is HC, the issue with trading/mail is that people where playing on established servers which had loads of gold/mats/enchants etc saved up.

I think it would be interesting to see how far Bots can get without dying. I dont think they will make it too far to be an issue, I could be wrong though.

TL:DR from watching YT part of announcement: No plans on removing petri flasks, PTR is tomorrow

This looks interesting for but it looks like theres something missing, can we get a new system about achivments and tracking a progress of the journey itself?

Huge W from Blizzard! Thank you for listening to your community! I was afraid you were going to announce these realms with the only restriction being if you die you lose your character, and nothing else, but you are clearly listening to community feedback and ideas, and putting in effort to give your players the game mode they want! Much respect to you Classic Devs!

The one thing from the announcement I was not that happy about, and I think a lot of the community agrees so I hope you see what the feedback is like on the issue, but I think open trading and Auction House from level 1 is a mistake and will harm the integrity of the game mode. Open trading will inherently make hardcore easier, and there is just something that feels wrong thinking about level 1s getting four 12 slot bags and 20 gold traded to them from their friend, OR themselves by trading it to their friend first. You know how players are, and with open trading and AH, we will have level 1s with Crusader enchants eventually, and it won’t take that long with how dedicated the playerbase is.

I think a much better solution would be to restrict trading and the Auction House to something like 10 level bands, so a level 1 can trade and AH with anyone level 1-10, and then anyone within the 11-20 range can trade between each other, etc, all the way up to 50-60, maybe with 60s having the ability to BUY items from all lower level players on the AH, but anyone in the 1-49 range won’t be able to see or buy their items from the AH (i.e. level 60s have full AH access except for SELLING to players under level 50.)

This would actually create a much healthier economy in each level band for Hardcore, since level 1-20 players could buy and sell low level herbs for reasonable prices relative to their level range without the market being taken over by high leveled players with a lot of gold to sink into controlling a market.

The other solution that I think would be an improvement is just to unlock trading and AH access fully at a higher level, maybe level 20 or level 30, or even level 40. This way players can’t twink out a low leveled alt, but once they’ve committed enough time into their character, they can start using the AH and their professions to start making money toward their level 40 and 60 mount training!

Either way, thank you for listening Blizzard, huge win.

I mean, what’s intentional? Obviously every dungeon wipe will be reported, and they’ll be so inundated with reports, how will they keep up?

deliberate action to hamper or significantly impede the ability of other players to enjoy the game,

deliberately causing a wipe in a raid or dungeon group.

And also note:

On the flip side to this, “report bombing” or intentionally using the ruleset against players to attempt to get their account actioned will also be met with equally harsh penalties. Deaths can and will happen in normal gameplay, and retaliation or resorting to bullying, abuse, or malicious reporting for normal gameplay deaths are not appropriate. For example, if you are in a dungeon group and the tank ends up taking too much damage and dies despite the efforts of the healer in the group, it’s not appropriate for someone to report the healer.

But sir, the bots won’t make as much money if they remove petri.

I know the average death on HC all too well, I have died at multiple levels due to my own foolish nonsense.

most die in the barrens or westfall.

Thats not how petri flask work.

Petri makes you immune to damage = people leave group, wait 1-2 sec and pop flask. Flask duration is 60 sec and you get kicked out of the instance after 60.

Maybe not at the start but affter a few months it will be the same as this video.

You really overestimate the gold farmers and how they can set up their bots… if there are money they WILL find a way to do it efficiently.

It will be really funny if some accounts get closed for simply being bad at the game. Can’t wait for that fiasco.

I mean, looking at that set of “rules,” it sort of points to exactly that happening (often), if they are enforced. But also, people getting banned for reporting them!

That’s what I’m talking about. Make the 60s instance kick timer pause itself while flasked.

Well the only concern about trading for me is banking alts - ppl will just store stuff on alts, which will result in faster market inflation compared to the option where you can’t sell things to alts.

People are just going to farm their own lvl 10’s on a second account.

they implemented the anti-boosting changes though, if anyone is too high so mobs are gray then everyone gets like 5% experience

The season of mastery changes that are included already do that.

If you buy twink gear from AH and then die two levels later because you pulled too many mobs, that sounds like a self-correcting problem to me :dracthyr_shrug:
