Returning player here. I’ve read here that your spec matters in determining your queue time but not sure how it works aside from just healer and dps time differences.
Do off meta specs just get faster queues? Ex: MM hunt, feral, etc
Yeah, kind of. The system tries to avoid duplicate specs, so less popular ones get quicker queues to some degree.
I’m really not sure I’d call Feral off meta.

Hunter benefits from having 3 decent specs.
I got a 2 second bm queue last week.
Sv queues are usually pretty fast.
Haven’t queued mm in a few weeks.

I saw almost no difference between frost and unholy ques on my dk. Might be class specific as well? idk
I used to think so then one time I got 3 assa rogues at 3k mmr.
