RPG Trinity to Blame for Long Wait Times for Dungeon Finder

Long history? We sure about that?

Fix what? People liking dps?

Or ends up like SWTOR where some of the Flashpoints you just up and quit if you don’t have a tank and healer, because the fights are impossible without a tank and healer. Sad day when a Veteran Mode has to be abandoned because of that.

So should they make the game like call of duty with swords? The trinity is foundational in an MMORPG, especially the type of game that WoW is.

All of the games that have claimed to eliminate the trinity were terrible.

Ridiculous. Plenty of people enjoy tanking and healing.

You want to fix queue times for DPS? Restrict each account to only using dungeon finder/LFR on 1 DPS specced character per week.

If there’s a problem, it’s that everybody defaults to DPS when running their 1500 alts through queued content, thereby soaking up all the tanks and healers to do runs for characters they won’t even be playing.

It’s the elephant in the room that nobody ever wants to talk about.

The trinity needs to stay. Without it, it’s no longer WOW. I’m not playing an MMO without the trinity. They all devolve into spammy nonsense.

As of late as the tank goes around do as he is supposed to do I see others pulling from way behind and tank does as he is supposed to do and ignored player who pulled stuff on purpose and let player die. That is the best the best tank in my book

Correct the RPG trinity is the issue and the fix is relatively easy.

Stop “forcing” queue content to “need” the tank and healer…especially the healer is dead weight in queue content unless they DPS and even then they are a poor DPS vs an actual DPS. You can have a button or option to only be placed in “proper” groups if you want that for whatever reason.

So…I think that maybe the lack of tanks/healers is because the game is so fast to level through now. When is a new tank or healer going to learn the ropes?

I started playing in vanilla, started playing for realzies in Burning Crusade, and didn’t level my first healer until Wrath or my first tank until Cataclysm. After years of DPS, I saw how tanks moved, how they positioned bosses, etc. I healed on a resto druid and actually was famous on Moon Guard at the time for being competent (this was before cross realm anything). Again, learned originally by watching. Dungeons and leveling were just slow enough to learn the rhythm of those roles once I picked them up, too.

But if I started now I would be so overwhelmed with information IDK when I’d bother.

Do you know how limiting that would be to fight design and mechanics? You can’t have tank busters because you may not have a tank. For that matter, taunt or picking up dangerous add packs isn’t something you can do either. You can’t have large AoE damage because you may not have a healer to keep the dps alive. It all becomes simple pass/fail mechanics like not standing in circles.

It’s worked for over 25 years but now it’s suddenly a problem because people “need” fast queue times because they don’t have time to play a game where time sinks are normal & wanted in some cases.

A lot of people are lazy and don’t tank or heal on classes that can do it. No queued content is hard enough to where people can’t do it. I’ve tanked/healed on every class that can do it levelling alts during the anniversary, and even on specs I hadn’t played before it only took me a few minutes before I was totally fine in queued content.

Yeah, nobody is jumping on a tank/healing class they haven’t played before and suddenly doing heroic or mythic raids, but we aren’t taking about that, we’re talking about easy queued content.

Anytime I’m doing queued content, I queue for tank, dps, and healing (depending on what the class can do), and I always get instant queues.

Of course, warlocks, mages, rogues, and hunters have no choice. I honestly think they should be given queue priority over classes that have tank and healing options but people don’t select it.

I know exactly what we are talking about, and I am happy you got so much enjoyment out of multiple classes and specs.

Agree with everything but this.

Doing this would have knock on effects for everyone else, and it just shifts “DPS queues are bad” to “I’m punished for not playing a full DPS class if I want to DPS.”

Just make tanking and healing fun again. Easy solution. Best answer.

Couldn’t pay me enough to tank or heal in the current toxicity of the queued-content community.

CTA bags used to have stuff like mounts and pets in them.

Then a bunch of DPS players threw a snit because tanks & healers were getting things they weren’t, and got that removed.

Force dps to be competent and pay attention as much as tanks and healers, and it will even out. Laziness drives many to dps. They can take a major head injury and wander away from the keyboard for a bit without any dire consequences to the group’s success.

I’ve never had problems.

Never happen. And the games that have tried fall right back into it.
