The real problem for excessive wait times in dungeon finder is that most players don’t want to play tank or healer roles. Because of a long history of toxic abuse heaped on them when ever a group has problems in a dungeon. Hence there is an overabundance of DPS players and a serious much lower amount of people willing to play as tanks and healers.
So Until Blizzard Devs figure out a way to fix / change the RPG Trinity requirements for joining a dungeon finder group. The wait times will continue to be a source of irritation and frustration. It is surprising that the Devs haven’t been able to fix this in 20 years.
A lot of people are running classic time walking instead of random dungeons right now. As a tank, it’s instant for me but a random heroic can take a few minutes or even longer for random dungeon.
I usually wait around a half hour. Some times we get 3 dps real fast, but it’s either the tanks or the healers we gotta wait for. Sometimes both of these. Kinda kills the fun just waiting around.
there are a lot of things to do in wow right now. multiple different games especially with anniversary realms being opened. cataclysm timewalking dungeons and raids, wow in game anniversary content, plus regular tww content.
The que in general is really weird right now. There’s a lot of times I’ll que up to even a timewalking (which has regular activity), it’ll say “average wait time 7 mins” and I’ll literally be in que for 30 minutes without it popping. I’ll leave que, rejoin, and it’ll suddenly pop 5 minutes later.
Par for the course for DPS in queue.
If im a lone DPS then yeah times can range from a few minutes to 20ish minutes, but if its that long i leave and requeue and that seems to remind the system that im there and i get a group not too long after,
When my friends play and we have a tank and or heals the queues are much faster.
Also we are doing timewalking exclusively, i havent done a TWW dungeon since the time i was forced to do them for the story line
another thread trying to claim dungeons are dead when a simply being aware would save you the trouble.
its the holidays, so not as many people are playing
theres a timewalking event that gives way more xp than tww dungeons, so people are queing for those
theres new open world content, so less people are doing dungeons in general
Then what’s the fix for this? If you don’t have clearly defined roles, then mechanics are far more limited into pass/fail jump rope mechanics because you can’t guarantee that a group will have a healer or a tank.
That limits the design of bosses and fights a lot.
No, both of you are wrong. None of those things would affect queue times. Queue times doesn’t depend of the total of players in queue. Queue times depend of the proportion of Tank, Healer and DPS among the number of players in queue because if the number of players increase or decrease what changes it totall number of groups inside dungeons, unless the people in queue decrease bellow the number to make 1 group (wich is not 5 because the balance is not 1-1-3)
Last week when people had an actual reason to do heroic dungeons the wait times were like 5 minutes as a DPS. This week it’s back to no one having a reason to do dungeons. I’ve seen DPS call to arms a number of times, it’s not just tanks and healers not doing them.
