Inquisition starts WAY too slow an it takes too long to have your full party. I had fun with it, all in all, but the pacing is really bad.
I loved Dragon Age II. It seems like it needed a lot more development time, and the environment in particular suffered for it â but it also seems they picked the story/roleplay elements to put the most polish on with the time they had, and that was the correct choice. It gets points with me for that.
My only problem with the story and characters, that I recall, was what First Enchanter Orsino does right at the end if you side with the mages (and possibly also if you donât, I havenât played through on the other side yet). I see why, design-wise, they had to have the player be at least kind of right and kind of wrong no matter which side they choose, but I would have done that differently.
Whew this threadâs been a ride.
My responses:
- PvP is fine, just try not to disrupt RPers. At the end of the day this is a game and a major facet of the game is PvP. People like World PvP, but we need to share the space honestly.
- Making PvP threads is fine. Personally I see their form of RP as very different - itâs more that theyâre RPing having done PvP than actually RPing in the WoW universe in a way. I mean, raiding of the Undercity, continuing the war⌠neither make sense in universe, but we have threads about it. Thatâs fine, itâs their money, they can play their way. Though like, maybe to avoid spam, we could keep some of this banter to one thread? Weâve got too many of these threads tbh.
- Lore justification for PvP: Iâve said this heaps of times but I see PvP, ICly (at least in peacetime), as lawless vigilantes, so overtaken by hate that they just need to keep murdering their enemies. My characters would typically dismiss them as madmen and traitors, on both sides.
- Someone made a comment that Blood Knights would not attack the Alliance, because of Liadrin being grateful to the Draenei. I disagree. Just because your leader sees things one way doesnât mean everyone agrees - some elves likely remember the attempted genocides in Dalaran. I canât hold that against them.
- We should do some more wholesome server PvP stuff, like a big honorable gladiator event or something. Thatâd be neat.
Dragon Age: Origins was the highlight of the series for me. It had decently compelling characters, a good amount of world-building, and enough variety to spice up a good 300+ hours of gameplay across multiple playthroughs. Very fun.
Dragon Age 2 was a lot better in the DLC department, but the base game felt rushedâwhich it was, from what I gathered. Thatâs not to say what they pushed out wasnât quite good for the time table they had, but it definitely couldâve used some more time in the oven. And it could have certainly expanded character motivations. Meredith has a reason for her views, but itâs only known in a book outside of the game.
Inquisition is too grindy. Waaaaaaaay too grindy. If you make a mistake and get trapped in the Hinterlands youâre in for a bad time. Not to mention some of the characters are as bland as a wall. (Blackwall was cool, until I realized he has the amount of personality as a painted black wall.) Again, inquisiton ended up similar to Dragon Age 2 for me, where the DLCs were better than the main game, and offered more in terms of interesting dynamics and places to go.
Overall, I like Dragon Age as a setting, and the gameplay is solid in all three installments, but the art design in recent titles and the rushed, grindy content of Inquisition make me cautious about Dragon Age 4.
Also, Sarestha, whyâd you post just before me. Now my post seems disjointed from the rest.

i cant believe i missed all the DS2 discussion that game is great i loved it my favourite build was a dragonrider twinblade + high int for a spellblade. you had powerful sorceries and a deadly melee weapon, though you could never fit any armour and could neither parry or block - meaning you had to learn how to dodge real quick or youâd get squashed.
honestly when DS3 came out and they had no twinblades i was so sad because twinblades are the coolest wow should add more twinblade polearms since i know they have at least one or two.
are you people just saying random words?
edit: speeling

Even an rp-pvp raid on a capital city could be wholesome imo, if they coordinate with a group on the opposite faction to pick a time so they can organize a defense, and agree to stay out of parts of the city where they might be disruptive to people who donât want to be involved.
In-character you may be playing as an angry warmonger who doesnât care about being âfairâ to your enemy, but out-of-character you should want everyone to enjoy themselves during an rp event.
Iâm of course not saying you canât just show up unnanounced with a huge raid (half of whom donât even have in-character reasons to be there) and swarm afk players and low-levels. Its your $15 a month, do what you want. Just donât pretend thats roleplay youre doing. Its just pvp.
How many low levels have you killed in this 10 hours?

I think it is time for Pandaria to go back to being surrounded in mists⌠Alliance and Horde just donât give up with this killing each other lol.

Grab your sword an fight the Horde!
Wait, what do you mean we are the Horde?!
I see. Well then I will just stand here and be FAAAAAABUUUULOUS.
Ugh this wounds me. Iâve been trying to get a legitimate WWE inspired dramatic PvP event going on for some time, with people coming in using new names and personalities, fighting under a new identity under various rulesets. Rivals, drama, the audience getting to know the characters duking it out in the ring, conspiracy, etc. Itâs an idea I kind of gain steam for then lose ambition with every now and then.
For what itâs worth I think this looks really fun, donât sweat the haters. I learned not to take a lot of what people in WoW say seriously, the WoW community will complain about anything. I wish you luck!
Honestly I think a lot of RP-PvP exists in its own weird bubble. Theyâre RPing their PvP, but not exactly RPing in universe??? Itâs sorta semi-RP - theyâre vaguely half acting like characters but are largely just expressing their PvP in fancy ways.
Like, Ravenhul probably doesnât even know the names of the people heâs killed ICly. I doubt they had a chat about it. Those dwarves definitely didnât raid Undercity and kill Sylvanas recently. You know what I mean? It⌠doesnât really make sense. But they talk as if it does. Honestly it reminds me of medieval re-enactors who yell âDeus vultâ one minute, and then talk about replying to a text message or something. Itâs half immersion. xD
itâs a teensy bit more specific than just âthe WoW communityâ but ok
Autai will arm wrestle Zogdor while her Half-elf scantily dressed partner amps the crowd up until many ladders and folding chairs are provided.
It is simultaneously what I had in mind and not what I had in mind.
