RP Server Rules?

I am rolling on BB, if someone reports my name for not being “rp” enough ima be pissed. I dont bother your RPing, you dont report my name. get it? got it? good.

If you are going to play on an RP server and NOT RP, simply do not alienate the population. Have names that are within the guidelines and don’t interfere or disrupt the RP that is going on. Head down, charge forward.

With Blizz gutting customer service on a seemingly regular basis I can say with reasonable certainty that the name policy is the only thing you can expect to be enforced, if that.

Considering how long I ran around Wyrmrest Accord on a character named Skinflute with my trusty battlepet Trousersnake, I’m not confident in rule enforcement that isn’t RCR’d.

Plenty of people on RP servers that keep to them self, pve and avoid disturbing roleplayers, if thats not your thing, and thats great… you are that back stage person doing your thing…

Naming though is probably the thing that can get reported if its not a “normal” name, but thats allways comes down to GM judgement…

If you want to be sure just use the Blizzards own name random creator, untill you get a name you like

I like that unsaid rule about the “numbered chats” can be ooc, I just don’t want the global chats to delve into twitch link spamming and politics like it was on the beta D:
@Mug should be fine x)
Also, I’ll just say it
No altcodes allowed!

What about the name Kanal?

That’s a trick question, it means sewer in German.

There are Tauren NPCs named Tonga, Skorn, Mull, Jyn, Fyr, Yaw, Kaga, Mooranta, Tal etc. Anyone who would report you for a similar kind of name has a log up their butt. Don’t worry about it.

I don’t think we know the answer to that yet. We’ll find out in-game. My gut feeling is that they are not going to spend a lot of resources on it, so it will likely be less policed than it was in original vanilla.

Yes, that name seems fine to me, the only difference is that how prominent the character is perhaps? Seeing Arthas, Thrall, Sylvanas as playernames, not sure really. Especially with accents added

Yeah I certainly wouldn’t suggest using names of prominent characters. That might even be against ToS somehow?

I was pointing out though the kinds of names that characters actually have in the game. A human named Antonio isn’t at all unrealistic or non-RP, there are some NPCs with that name. There is a dude named Woo Ping, c’mon now…

Yeah, there is a define naming policy, which is actually probably different now than it was back then, which is kind of what I’m getting at, many names we use break that policy

You should expect to get reported for names like that. They are disruptive to RP and are blatantly against Blizzard’s ToS.

Guilds should expect the same treatment.

In fact, the only formally defined RP server rule in Blizzard’s TOS is regarding RP naming. Anything else is subjective.

Not if said trolling is in character. Which is 100% plausible for a hyperactive gnome.

trolling is mostly meaning, disrupting the rp entirely, a pesky gnome probably has a place if not over done intentionally, i guess, especially for events don’t be a lowly gnome…

May as well ask a mosquito to stop drinking blood.

At least you compare yourself accurately, trifling gnome, a mere insect!

Well some of those names you could never use anyway, because we are stuck with the 12 character limit =P

I don’t see why 2 or 3 letter names (if done right) wouldn’t work though.

Names will get reported if they are against the Blizzard RP server rules (and I’ll report those all day long). No one is going to report names that aren’t “RP enough” (whatever that means). Besides, Blizzard would not enforce such a thing anyways.

i just took it he was using as example, calling those rp names was the greater crime!D:
