#RP-PVP Realms, Reconsider One Realm

Blizz,

What are the Dwarfs telling us? Just received some footage of them celebrating out in Loch Modan. Then again when aren’t they.

Maybe the upcoming announcement of the all anticipated RPPvP server?

Why bother with RP PvP when RCR exists?

But then how are you supposed to tap martini glasses together with just one?

Day 28

Another week has passed today. Making it 4 weeks since I came to this meeting. 4 weeks without a word from the Overlords. Some have been waiting longer.

Yet we still wait. Still more trickle in as the news spreads. The infighting has ceased. It seems everyone just wants an answer. Hope is all we have at the moment. I keep praying to Elune. 49 Days til the reckoning. 49 Days til we have our answer for sure. Hopefully it comes sooner.

I have always played RP-PVP as soon as it was availible. IMHO, RP-PvP is the truest form of RP, as in order to get immersed in roleplaying a warrior of the Horde or Alliance, you really should be willing to actually engage the rival faction in PvP.

Just to recap why holding off on RPPVP servers is a bad thing:

  • Will kill initial RP and PVP servers when RPPVPis finally opened
  • RPPVPers will be scattered between RP and PVP servers, fracturing the community
  • If held off on, when opened RPPVP servers will be clobbered by server locusts with no desire beyond “F R E S H”
  • If held off, players are less likely to give up leveled/geared characters and leave guilds and established communities.

Reasons why ignoring demand prior to release so you can gauge demand post release is a sensible plan:

That would make sense, except in vanilla it didn’t really seem like there was any good reason for the Alliance to be at war with the Horde, if you came straight from Warcraft 3 like I did. Alliance and Horde had just teamed up to save the world. I didn’t care about the Horde, I wanted to fight the Scourge.

Now if you were from Stormwind, which is what is implied in the human origin video, you might well not feel that way since you had no involvement in the events of Warcraft 3 and the last orcs you saw were burning SW down. But that’s just because you wouldn’t know the facts.

Since then Blizz has gone to enormous lengths to actually make the Alliance and Horde have a reason to be at war again.
