Based on the last interview, I think US and EU will each get one RP-Pvp server at launch but the smaller regions will not.
I think thats why they haven’t officially said anything on it. The smaller regions won’t be happy about it.
Just feel it in my gut.

Hopefully the stress test showed Blizz the scope of people wanting to play. And those were only the ones that received an invite. The actual number of people, who knows how many. I’m more hopeful now that we’ll get one.

I personally do not like PVP, mainly because I’m a scrub when it comes down to it. Thinks back to the days of TBC and Warlocks hidden in bushes
But I do enjoy to RP, so if a server does come to light I would be more than happy to try!

The biggest reason for a RP-PVP server is that the regular PVP servers will be filled with e-thugs and tryhards (PVP servers traditionally have a more hardcore PVE scene as well). A RP-PVP server will encourage people who are more chill and still want to RP but also have the extra fun of PVP without all the jerks.

The tone of how they answered it is still so noncommittal and uncomfortable that they had been asked. It truly baffles me why this is such an issue for them.
It almost seems like a blizzard executive had an unfortunate accident with one or one touched them inappropriately, and instructed the staff to not speak of them and avoid discussions concerning them. It is really really strange.

If we don’t get our RPPvP server we will have to figure out a surrogate server. On that server we would then have to figure out an RP layer then act accordingly. This is ridiculous, just give us our RPPvP server, it will reduce the need to layer on your other servers blizzard.

The issue is if it happens to be the one I am on.
I hate PVP. I dread going to STV purely due to my experiences there on an RP-PVP server in the past.

Ok. So, you aren’t fond of pvp. Presumably because you’ve been less than successful…? Assuming. So ok. You’ve overcome challenges that you faced pve. This is just a different kind of enemy. Ganking not considered here.
The server I played on, the community was fantastic! People zoned in to help out. That kind of integrated play really goes a long way establishing an invested community and sence of loyalty and pride in your faction.
I’m planning on rolling Horde on a RP-PvP server, and I will be coming if you are getting ganked.

No, it’s because ganking isn’t considered griefing. And I got ganked and corpse-camped far too many times to count when all I wanted to do was level up and quest.
I ended up making the decision to leave all my friends behind on that server simply because I couldn’t deal with it anymore.

I’m honestly sorry if no-one came after you asked for help. That seems out of character for RP-PvP….but more in character for PvP and especially PvE. I’ve seen people get insulted for being so stupid as to “flag themselves” on PvE. No-one even considers helping less they flag themselves.

Nobody came even when I needed help killing Hogger pre-Cata. I had to literally out-level that quest before I could do it.

In a way that experience gave rise to my current mindset while playing Retail – better to just outlevel the content so I can do it solo and not bother other people than to constantly ask for help.

I’m an admitted Wrath baby, so that might have something to do with why my experience there was so bad.
Yeah, I haven’t played since MoP. So, the community had already been disintegrating by that point. I can’t even imagine what it’s like now.

The RP-PVP server I was on is completely dead. And the sad thing is, from what I’m told, it was already dying before Wrath.
Not even a server merge could save it. lol
