OOC Information/Background:
First, thank you Banshih for your starting this thread on our behalf.
The Privateer Press initially started as the concept of The Blackwater Bulletin, a guild-only newsletter for The Blackwater Company. We decided to make a newsletter to add additional flavor to our members by offering ‘Help Wanted’ advertisements for small RP jobs outside of our normal larger events to aid in character progression. Along with advertisements for things like ‘For Sale’ for employees that have their own personal businesses and wanted to share their wares. Also gave some of our more creative members a place to write and share. Furthermore, we wanted to share stories of our events as well as other articles to provide additional context and life in the world we ‘live’ (roleplay) in. It is a very large world outside of any city hub, so let’s breathe life into it.
This was all wonderful, fine, and dandy; what about others?
Those not in Blackwater? This is where we saw a potential need. Purpose: That is when the shift was made to The Privateer Press, do not let the name fool you, the scope is more than just for seafaring roleplayers. We wanted a publication that did not come out too often that was specifically geared towards the adventure side of things, privateers, mercenaries, traders, and the like. We wanted a publication that didn’t care for social, political, or faction boundaries. We wanted a publication that offered ways to increase roleplay ideas, story arcs, interactions among groups outside of the typical second life, social, political, or church roleplay that generally dominates the world.
Goals:
- Have fun.
- Release a publication once a month that has stories, trade news, and advertisements that can spark ideas and interactions for a target audience of Privateers, Mercenaries, and Traders. Don’t get hung up on the exact words as each can have a wide berth from merchants to military guilds to monster hunters and beyond.
- Provide a place for other groups, individuals, and organizations to publish stories, help wanted, for hire, and events pertaining to the target audience.
- Be independent. The Privateer Press is not tied to any political roleplay group, faction-specific roleplay group, or any race/kingdom-specific roleplay group.
- To NOT be a source of political, guard, social role-play stories. There are two, soon three, other amazing publications out there to scratch that itch.
On our Discord, you will find the pilot issue from September 1st and the first official issue out yesterday, the 15th. We plan to release it on the 15th of every month. If you read this far, thank you.

Hello all! Only a couple more weeks until our October issue that is shaping up rather nicely. If your group or you are looking to post an advertisement or article in the paper, I would need to know by 10/1 and have the piece by 10/8. We do even offer interview options for adventure, trading, etc. type guilds.

Hog Hunting Leads to Nuptials - We here at Privateer Press are pleased to announce the engagement of local farmer, Samantha Jackson, who has decided to marry a local rancher turned mercenary named Austin Rodgers, whom the two met after Mister Rodgers responded to her advertisement for help clearing hogs that were ruining her crops in our 9/1 issue of the Privateer Press. “It was a very passionate month when Austin came to my farm. We at first quarreled a lot, as I worked to try and salvage my crops, and he worked to solve the hogs that were assaulting my field, but our arguments were only hiding the passionate flame I carried for him. Not only did we make love amongst the turnips, we also figured out that the hogs were being stirred by a Gnoll Hunter.” Suffice to say, the Gnoll was dealt, the hogs were dealt with, and Mister and Mrs. Rodgers are pleased to get married at the Heart’s Wood Chapel in Elwynn Forest.

This and much more! If you are interested in catching the in between stories, share your own adventures, or list advertisements our office information (discord) is listed within the publication.

Article from “The In Between”:
Puppet Show Announcer - The Privateer Press has met with Mr. Jasper McIntoch of the Four Hand Parade to check on if his advertisement for the Puppet Show Announcer. During this meeting, he was amid hastily packing up his belongings to get out of town. He did report several great candidates to his puppet show announcer position that was advertised in the October issue of the Privateer Press. When asked if he hired any or if we needed him to run the advertisement again, he refused to answer and fled. Upon checking over the remaining area he abandoned, we found three dead bodies, two that had the paper with the advertisement circled. Each corpse was missing vital organs. It seems the advertisement was a ruse to create his own announcer through necromancy and various parts.
Mr. Jasper McIntosh is a human male that is about six feet tall and around one hundred and ninety pounds. At the point of this interaction, he had a full beard and sandy blond hair and a very distinct Westfall drawl. He was heading towards Duskwood.
The Privateer Press is offing a 5,000g reward for the man alive.

With the overwhelming response to the October issue, we at the Privateer Press have decided to release bi-monthly instead of once a month to ensure that articles stay on top of all the stories and get them delivered to readers like you in a timely fashion. Check out this edition’s special piece ‘Better Know a Bounty Hunter’ to read an interview with an actual bounty hunter Ga’cha that successfully nabbed several people for the Dance of the Dead.
