RP Events - A Discussion

It’s the beginning of a new month, so I decided to move back to this thread and see where we are in terms of progress:

  • Vol’dun Social has been added as a weekly RP event, mostly focusing on Vulpera but others are welcome. (Great job!)
  • Gilneas RP is now happening every 2-3 weeks. The focus here is Worgen or Gilneans but others are welcome. (Great job!)
  • RP in SMC being revived to happen on a regular basis. (Great job!)
  • Added a list of active guild recruitment posts to the WrA Information and Directories forum post so people can find them for easy reference. These are guilds who’ve advertised on the forums since August and going forward. (WrA Information & Directories - #80 by Kirsy-wyrmrest-accord)
  • There are a few fresh RP ideas hitting the calendar. Calendar seems very full these days, mostly with cross-faction events. (see below)
  • Working to create a Stormwind walk-up scene, scheduled at least once a month and maybe other times when people are free. Kazimir had specifically mentioned that there weren’t enough Alliance-based RP events and I agree. We can’t grow what we’re not scheduling. The bookstore RP will bring some light plots with it as well.

What we still haven’t done:

  • Alliance or cross faction guild faire. Sorry, but I am calling this out. Is it happening? If not, why not? Please update us with what the actual plans are.
  • There are still some racial communities that could grow or be served. Let’s talk Dwarves:
WrA used to have a very large community of Dwarven RPers. They moved to MG. Some stopped playing. Since that time, there’ve been new Dwarves rolled on Wyrmrest and nowhere for them to find racial RP unless they want to try to port over to MG for Dwarven events. But the Cask & Anvil is currently the only scheduled, open RP event. I think the last Moot was in September? (don’t quote me on that, but that’s the last Moot I can find scheduled).
Would the current WrA Dwarven community like a small, monthly event? Or maybe Dwarves/Gnomes together? And if so, would it be an Ironforge thing or somewhere else? Would any MG Dwarves be interested in popping back to WrA for Dwarven events?

I also went back to look at an old post I made from last year regarding Alliance RP (WrA Alliance RP by the Numbers). I still think a few of these suggestions aren’t bad ones, for them being little effort:

  • Haven’t RPd for awhile? Make an Alliance character and find an Alliance/Cross Faction RP guild.
  • If you’re an Alliance RPer and find yourself standing around idle in Dornogal, go jump through the portal to SW. RPers who log in to SW and see few people there are more likely to log out than attempt to RP. More people need to be visible.
  • If your RP guild is currently using a weekend day as your main RP day, consider adding a casual RP night at one of the regular RP events at least once a month.
  • If you’re a Horde RPer and you’re not getting enough RP, consider an Alliance alt to play on days you aren’t busy on Hordeside.
  • If you’ve moved to MG (or a raid server) and you’re not getting enough RP, consider popping over on your WrA alt to play on days you aren’t busy elsewhere.
  • If you’re sitting in a dead guild and waiting for it to repopulate eventually when new content drops, g-quit and move yourself to an active guild.
  • If you’re event planning for guild, faction or server event, please look at the other events that exist on the calendar and try not to plan yours on the same day as events that are already scheduled if your personal schedule can accommodate it.
  • Advertise! Put your event on all the Discords, the Forums, in Trade chat, etc. Bump your Forum ads more often. If your Forum post is over 10 days old, no one’s rolling down that far. Top half of the page, baby - that’s where you want to be. This includes established events, ofc.
  • Pick an RP spot in SW as an established base of operations and use it:
NOT the Pig and Whistle (has the obnoxious NPC)
