Rogues, how do you parse high in BWL?

Anyone want to give some detailed info on what you do from start to finish on the boss fights?

Thx anyone who wants to help.

Are you swords or dagger?

I am swords.

Viskag.

I start the fights with a SS and get my slice and dice going.

But i am not sure when to pop my thistle tea, Adrenaline Rush, Blade Flurry, etc.

i am daggers so i have no idea how you would go about it with swords. Hopefully a sword rogue will answer you soonish.

On vael you should look to get a dagger from MC because backstab becomes much better for that fight.

I’m daggers 85ish% parser

World buffs > anything unfortunately.

Also pray for some nice rng on those backstage

As sword? Just pop CDs after a few seconds (wait for sunders) just make sure slice n dice is up at all times…

As swords, I would not pop tea unless you have a crusader proc or if you are lucky and get both to proc, dump them SS and tea

Ok thanks you.

I see you using Feint on a lot of fights, looks like you don’t have a Fury/Prot tank? Are you threat capped? Boss kills are slow too, looks like a threat issue from a glance.

get every single possible world buff and consumable possible

then apply rotation as ussual and pray not to die

World buffs and consumes literally double your dps or more. Every rogue in my raid team gets them, most parse 95+, 2/3 will get multiple 99 parses a raid.

If one of us dies, it’s closer to 80-90ish accompanied with a massive dps drop. Songflower, DM:N, Ony, WCB, and full consumes and you’re good to go.

Make sure to maximize up time on the target. Always be hitting, and keep 100% SnD uptime. Depending on your kill times, pop BF asap and then again with AR, or ensure you pop them at the same time at least. These few things will basically ensure you are dealing high dps.

It also sounds obvious, but do everything you can not to die - keep a few LIPs in your bag and such. Back out of trash if you’re low and bandage. Death is very punishing because you’ll lose your WBs.

Parses are relative to your group, so it will depend on your strats - but you can always optimize yourself as much as possible to perform effectively within the parameters of your raid team.

Also worth checking out the rogue discord and simming your gear. Ensure you’re fully enchanted as well.

Your two main fights to work on are Vael and Brood. For Vael have a dagger and use backstab as your cp generator. For Brood, run your standard rotation and focus on high up time. Make sure to nab a hearthstone to ensure you survive his knockback.

Brood dies pretty fast, would pre-potting gfpp be better than fr? Or are you just hoping to fully resist the knock back?

Depends on how good your tank’s threat is, and for things like firemaw you need to have a full thing of resist gear and two greater fire pots so you can sit on the boss like the entire time.

You can bold it to make it a little cleaner looking too.

oh sorry it wasnt letting me put it in i dont know lol.

don’t spam sinister strike. Get a weapon swing timer and hit SS right after a MainHand swing goes off. This avoides reseting your swing timer with wf/hoj/swordspec procs. Also go hard af in teh beggining of a fight and get as close to the tank as you can with aggro…then pop a LIP potion, wait 5 seconds and then vanish. This will allow you to go over the tanks threat then drop threat, and be low enough to go hard af for the rest of the fight without taking threat back. Feint should only be used in extreme cases where you have already used lip/vanish and you somehow still pull threat. Thistle tea is best used whenever you either A.) think you will be able to dump an extra evicerate during crusader procs and AD is down or B.) when you wish to snap out extra combat points to get a 5 combo point SnD. ADR is best used during crusader procs and always pop it at 75% energy tick(get a tick timer) to give yourself and extra second of ADR. Your buffs every boss fight should be juju might/juju power Mongoose, skorpok assay/R.O.I.D.S. and grilled squid. Worth mentioning that engineering is useful due to goblin sapper charge(large damage increase to adds on nefarion but also hits chromag hard af during fire weakness). Use it on large packs of adds but also on bosses as a single target increase, stratholm holy water is good for adds on neff as well. If you want to really get fancy grab some oil of immolation and crystal charge for extra damage, you can just macro them into some ability. Don’t be afraid of blade flurry even on single target fights, this ability isn’t just for cleave…it also greatly speeds up your attacks. Using propper consumables that don’t seem to improve dps at the right times can also provide more damage via utility. Sand to remove bronze debuff on chromag/fire resist pots on firemaw/free action potions during bosses that stun etc etc…There is lots of nuance to playing rogue right…i hope this giant wall of text helps.

Thank you Rumplez it did help.

Why is my miss% so high sometimes though?

I have 13% hit and my miss% is way higher than a rogue who only has 9%.

i dont get it.

White hits.

I see so many dodges with sinister strike as well like mobs pop evasion.

i doubt you do actually miss more…there is also rng involved. dodges and such happen…nothing you can really do about that.

World buffs have obviously been said.

Also the speed of the group you’re in especially if you play combat is crucial because the longer portion of the boss encounter your AR and blade flurry are a component of the higher your DPS will be according to logs. This one is The biggest because all the buffs you bring don’t entirely make up for a slow group. If your raid buddies are not world buffed and serious they’re making your parse look worse.

The last part is just keep your slice up, and make sure you don’t waste combo points by using too many of too little on slice so you can get an eviscerate in on occasion.

Oh and thistle tea at it as close to zero energy to make the most of it.

Ah one other thing; if you’re waiting to DPS even for a few seconds after the encounter starts then your parse will look worse and not because you’re doing anything wrong, but if you’re interested in the real numbers simply clip the time before you go into combat and that gives you the actual DPS. Every raid group grows and the time leading up to when they allow DPS to start improves as your group strengthens, so given time your parse will drastically improve just by the improvement of your team.

Remember that logs are a wonderful tool, but try not to worship them because they represent more than just you, it’s you and the opportunity that your raid team give you.
