Looking to mainly do 2v2s with a Mage main and occasionally BGs. Which one is better overall and which one is better with mostly PvP gear?
Priest mage is pretty strong. Also gives you the option of running double dps or heal dps.
Rogue mage is decent but not as strong as it was in TBC.
Personally I’d go priest, but if you really like rogue then go rogue. If you don’t really care about pushing rating then go by what’s more fun. Either way you can find a third friend and run RMP too!
How much PvE would I have to do for SP?
I’m gunna go with sp+mage.
I think mage/rogue cc will dr a lot with one another where as sp/mage you’ll get some good synergy with fear/poly and silences.
You’ll likely be primary target as priest, so it’s going to take some good understanding of kiting/cc defensively just as much as offensively.
Sounds like Rogues just kind of suck for PvP in WOTLK from all the stuff I’ve researched
I think it’s more of a balance thing. Rogues will no longer be godlike with the level playing field wotlk offers which makes the skill dependency go up considerably.
They’ll be pretty gnarly the first couple of seasons, but after that it’ll take a good player to do good rather than the class itself carrying bad players.
All classes will benefit from raid gear in PvP, especially in first season as the pvp gear is weak and last season as ICC heroic gear is bonkers.
Rogues don’t suck, but they are incredibly difficult to play well in Wrath (as opposed to TBC where they are mind-numbly overpowered and faceroll).
But, to answer your question, Rogue always requires a little more PVE gear than most classes, so if you don’t want to raid I’d definitely consider Spriest.
Mage/Spriest is insane and not too difficult to play, and Spriest doesn’t need PVE gear.
Mage/Rogue is decent but very difficult and the rogue most certainly wants the best PVE gear to help supplement some damage.
Anyway, gl
I would go with spriest if you don’t want to pve.
