Rogue skills that just don’t work:
Not working:
Stealth - randomly unstealthed
Stealth - can’t stealth because of in combat bug…no other class has skill lock because of this.
Vanish - fails to clear combat
Vendetta - causes a NPC to attack you even though you are stealthed at max range.
Poor design:
Cooldowns in general
Sprint 1 minute cooldown
Vanish 2 minute cooldown
Evasion 2 minute cooldown
Cloak of shadows 2 minute cooldown
Armor : poor
Bubble: none
Vs any other classes defenses its stupid…
say mage in comparison
blink : 15s cooldown
frost nova : 30 second cooldown
bubble: 12 s
Mage isn’t particularly special…all other classes
defense is far better…
So that means that rogue has the BEST offense right?
Nope …toward the bottom actually…
What about crowd control? Well that is somewhat effective but there are trinkets and skills that prevent the CC from happening - worse you lose all your combo points!
Really the rogue design is complete crap.
BTW: Had to stealth edit this because broken forum. Won’t let you respond to another person if you were the last edit. Wanted to say combat not dots.

I don’t recall vanish ever being advertised as something that clears dots. You are supposed to use cloak before or right after you vanish if you are dotted up.

Sounds to me like you simply chose the wrong class. Just shelf your rogue and roll a paladin. It’s clear that’s what you want.

There’s plenty to complain about, but you’re argument is clearly in favor of homogenization of all classes, which is historically bad… To be honest all your arguments are just plain short minded. Just reroll, all your doing is complaining about being a rogue.

I dont think theres anything wrong with abilities…chances are you being popped out of stealth is gut ripper or a heed my call proc, vanish has never cleared dots cloak wont clear bleeds and never had, you do get another short sprint after you shadow step that stacks with sprint…

Shadowstep speed increase does not stack with sprint. Short-term temporary speed increases do not stack. The most effective one supercedes all others.
Paladin. Thats what you’re looking for. They are that way, next to the dumpster full of Trashbringers.

Naw man…its broke big time.
I’ll put you on the spot on 1 skill alone.
Vanish and 2 minute cooldown. Justify that.
Why would a 1 minute cooldown be bad? Or like blink 15 seconds?
Seriously should be 15 seconds OR blink on 2 minutes.
Make a real argument rather than blanket statements.
The mage comparison is a good one because they actually are tankier than rogues.
My guess is that you are coming from arena… arena is a small portion of pvp and to balance around it is dumb.

Do you really think putting vanish on a 15 second cooldown is comparable to blink or is this a troll response?

Tell me why it isn’t. In fact being unable to stealth blocks several other skills.
What is blocked with blink…oh thats right nothing. Against melee its superior to vanish.

Because vanish can completely reset the fight, and blink is just a mobility ability that most classes can deal with easily. Bleeds and azerite procs may potentially screw up your vanish, but it’s still a stronger ability than blink. Also you can use it offensively to land another cheapshot
A cheapshot available every 15 seconds is op.

Yup, that’s why rogues shine in every content of the game.
This DH must be high.

I have characters in many classes and I don’t at all think you are getting the point of these abilities.
Blink is just a way of moving, it doesn’t disengage you from combat. Vanish is a very powerful ability that can be used to restart an encounter that went poorly.
Wouldn’t you have an issue if a pally could bubble at will?
As for OP, I can’t explain why classes feel so bad, but the pacing ‘as Jon likes to call it’ is really off. Part of it is GCD, part of it is abilities, part of it is pruning, and a huge part of it is hubris and spite from the developers.

i mean not sure if you’re trolling here to be honest… a better comparison would be blink to shadow step… but lets go with what you are comparing… Blink is just a mobility cd, whereas when used properly Vanish is both Offensive CD and Defensive CD. Hence why it has a 2 min CD…
I mean lets just give mages icy veins or combust on a 15 sec CD why not? Thats legit how stupid your statement is on vanish having a 15 sec CD…
Also im not coming from Arena but more so from a holistic view of the game… if you bothered to look at my profile you’d see im 8/8 Mythic 1.8K raiderIO so i PVE pretty hard…
Best suggestion before you come here to complain about a spec, at least take a little time to learn the dam mechanics of the class.

That 15 second vanish would have been killer with the legendary shoulders in legion.

You ain’t kidding. The 100-0 in one KS rumor might have actually had some viability then.

No no lets go shadowstep with blink.
30 seconds vs 15 seconds. But really blink is where you want to go and so every 10 seconds
You said it they should be the same.
Managing your stealth, knowing when to open on someone and how to get away is central to playing a rogue.
Vanish allows a rogue to reset a fight or get out of one completely. You can’t compare that to a defensive as it lets you completely leave combat if you wish and there is nothing your opponent can do about it if you use it correctly. Every other class defensive just lets the class avoid damage for a short time or take less damage for a short time. The closest comparison is a pally bubble hearth and that’s laughable because the paladin is then sent zones or continents away depending on where their hearth is set and cannot reengage in the fight, unlike a rogue.
Let’s compare Vanish to Blink and see why it’s an absurd comparison. One is on a 2 minute cooldown, yes. When a mage Blinks, they’re still your target, you can still damage them, they are still in combat, just a little further away. Blink also is somewhat buggy and gets stuck on terrain quite a lot. Vanish doesn’t get stuck on things. When someone Blinks, depending on your class, you can ranged stun them or leap/charge/shadowstep to them, etc. Rogue isn’t the only class Mages fight and many classes have ways to close gaps created by blink. Vanish, on the other hand, (when used correctly) works against every class except for Demon Hunters. And even against them, a decent Rogue can reopen on a DH before they can use Spectral Sight.
Try playing a Mage in a battleground or any group pvp. Blink is a lot stronger 1v1 than it is in group content. And no part of WoW is balanced around 1v1.
