How is it that rogues are flying under the radar? They have been disgustingly strong since the end of legion. 95% of my matches over 2100 are either rogue/mage, rogue/hpal, rogue/priest. I see people crying about warlocks and other classes consistently. 30%+ of their damage coming from gushings. In the global it takes to cleanse their poisons they are already back on you with gushings still ticking 10k+ per tick…
I thought it was just my gear but now I’m at 44% vers and still getting destroyed. Often games my teammate goes from 100-10% with defensives while I’m still in the freaking sap?
Why does this class have the best cc in the game, some of the highest sustained damage and extremely strong burst? I honestly rather get dumped on by warlocks every match because they are a hell of a lot more fun to play against.
See, the game is balanced around 5v5, where the only way to make rogues good is to make them retardedly overpowered at 1v1, 2v2, and 3v3. So rogues end up disgustingly OP at most levels of play and balanced in 5v5. That is blizzard balance.
It is my opinion that blizz has lost confidence in themselves and therefore are too afraid to make any changes, especially changes to things that have been around for a long time.
I think most people acknowledge sin is pretty strong/overtuned, imo they’re not as annoying because if they mess up they aren’t as forgiving as stuff like DH or destro in 2s at least. Bad rogues flop while bad DH/destros are still difficult to kill deeper into damp.
Master poisoner has no business making their spammable ranged slow stronger than everyone else’s though
Might just be the queue session. Some days I get a good variety of every class, some days I get alot of rogues, others lots of destros, DHs, etc. Yesterday I queued into 4 destro teams in a row.
“Fly under the radar”, people have been complaining about Rogue and Mage this entire expansion. It’s not flying under anybody’s radar. We’re just tired of complaining about rogue because we all know they’re disgusting. Warlock’s just currently become the trash heap king due to Haste amps making them fire off spells at an alarming rate.

saying something that isnt flying under the radar is flying under the radar
(rogues have probably been nerfed more than any other class this expansion)
Qualitative I’d say that’s enhance. Went from OP to the dumpster in less than a season.
Quantitatively that’d probably be DK. Since their buff in S1 they’ve got nerfed every patch since either through the NS % nerf, to DS nerf, to abom nerf.
I don’t really believe the problem is rogues. The problem of RMX is almost always the M and the X. It’s the ungodly amounts of CC that rogue mage can do, and the absolutely broken amounts of burst, being able to 100-0 anyone in a stun pretty much every 30 seconds. Toss an ineffable paladin into the mix and yeah it’s pretty ridiculous.
I play some rogue myself, but it’s not my fault that blizz decided to nerf conflict and strife major, or that gushing wounds is even a thing, or that mages can literally solo healers 100-0 in 3 seconds from combust crits. Rogues are quite squishy, when the alternative is you’d just be fighting destro/mage every game which are practically immortal and just as broken if not more.
Because we don’t? Seems like everything we do, mage does better. More CC (spammable, blinkable, literally CC chains for days vs literally only kidneyshot and blind; I agree maybe kidney should be 45s and shadowy duel shouldn’t be a thing)
Sustain seems fairly midrange at best, and solo burst doesn’t even come close to the other more bursty classes. Destro 2 shots you, combust 100-0s in 2.2 seconds, ele can randomly crit you to death instantly, etc.
Yes it’s very annoying that they slow you to a turtle. But bear in mind, if you can’t reach the mage or priest, just hit the rogue. This will force their defensives. If your teammate is wailing away on their teammate, chances are the healer won’t be able to keep up.
A good strat would be to keep an eye on rogue defensives. If they have no CDs, by all means switch to them. A good rogue will try to run away before it’s too late. But you might be able to land a surprise kill.
both subtlety and assassination got MASSIVE and repeated nerfs in s1 (MOSTLY warranted, i cant justify that they nerfed subtlety like 5 times in a single patch though)
assassination has some very core design flaws that make it extremely difficult for them to balance, and subtlety is at the other extreme end of the spectrum (finally being addressed in shadowlands SORT OF)
assassination still has glaring problems in shadowlands, but subtlety is going to have a hard time spamming cheap shot and succeeding in shadowlands
