Rocket boots in S5 is not well thought out

On the off chance someone at Blizzard sees this.

I feel Rocket Boots in S5 arenas is going to compromise the integrity of an important time in Classic’s life cycle.

Wrath is considered to be the pinnacle of WoW PvP by a lot of players, Rocket Boots were removed from arenas pretty quickly in Wrath with a statement from the developers saying it is impossible to balance the game with them allowed.

I think, ultimately, the choice to leave them in for S5 will be looked at the same way batching is looked at now. They’ll be fun for a week or two, and then people will realize how badly they skew the balance of the game. More of a novelty than a positive change.

Please consider having an off switch for them, or just not allowing them in the first place.

Arena PvP is supposed to be a competitive environment. People who play the game for arenas are going to have a hugely diminished experience in the first season of Wrath because of this.

From Crygil on their original removal from Wrath after about a month of uptime on the live branch:

After several attempts to balance the Nitro Boosts ability in the arena, we have decided that we currently do not have an acceptable solution. Until we are able to better balance this ability it has been shut down in the arenas. We fully plan to continue working on this item and we intend to adjust it in upcoming patches.

Eh idk, if every player has them are they that op? Pretty much everyone will be engi, pve players included

Yes, they are.

Not good to include by any means…

Are they currently usable on beta?

Dunno, this is in response to blue confirmation they’ll be in Wrath at launch though.

Oh is that recent? I know they mentioned it as a possibility months ago but have they confirmed?

Yep

By that logic of “game changing and balance” they need to nerf or remove racial because the Human racial is literally game breaking for pvp’rs

Thanks, Brian is quite “special” if you will

Rocket boots are bad just like arena tornados we’re bad imo. Bad for the game that is.

It scales with each tier, it’s not game breaking till arguably toc but really icc+

This statement from them kinda upsets me. I’m more or less returning for wrath so I have no prior gold or anything like most people who hoarded or gdkp’d, etc. so your gonna force me to spend the little I get to lvl a profession for 1 thing to be viable and than delete it next season. Geez, I wonder why people buy gold. Smh

Fresh servers my friend

Come join us

You should roll on one of the fresh servers launching tomorrow if possible. It will alleviate some of that catch up frustration.

Wish I could have a group of friends who have already been through TBC and are moving those toons forward so I gotta join them over there. So I either afk a bunch of gdkps, ask for loads of hand outs, or fall behind assuming I can’t grind this stuff myself.

People have been PvPing on Wrath private servers for about 7 years now with it just fine.

Rocket boots and Hyper vision goggles were removed for a very good reason during actual Wrath of the Litch King, because they were breaking the game.

Hyper Vision goggles and Boots were never allowed on ATR, and they should be 100% banned from arena.

PLEASE do not include these Blizzard, its the damn Eng belt all over again if you do.

The fact the even considered this let alone are doing it purposefully is frustrating.

breaking arena on purpose is a weird stance. bumping for justice.

The integrity of arena is already compromised. A handful of players took real money, gold and twitch subs and completely spoiled the spirit of competition. Nitro boosts are nothing compared to the damage done by these players.

Yes, but it still makes it a requirement. Like a hard requirement.

If everyone has it now you’re dealing with that, plus the RNG of backfires

Same reason engi belt was removed in S3
