My solution was to quit. I want to enjoy the game, but I hate the RNG that is absolutely coded against the player getting what they want.
Yep that is the sad truth. Blizzard needs to stop making things in this game based around “e-sports” and the “pro” players. It makes the game garbage in a lot of ways for the majority of the players. I feel like this is why older expansions were better, there wasn’t nearly as much “e-sports” and “pro” balancing and concern . There were specific defined ways to earn exact pieces of gear that were always as good as they possibly could be for the content that you earned them through as well.
100% op
This current loot system is a hot mess. I’m not a fan of their non RNG systems either. AP is garbage. I have to grind some system that is super boring just to make myself more competitive in a system I do enjoy? Dumb design.
I like the little effects a lot of the gear in EP has (and the same can be said for the Benthic stuff), but my biggest gripe with Crucible of Storms was that despite the effects being really interesting (and in some cases really powerful) they frequently weren’t good enough to justify going through a two-boss raid that was incredibly hard on higher difficulties.
You need to give people a reason to go out and find the unique pieces to really put them on the map. And the fact that only a couple dozen guilds to this day have bothered killing Mythic Uu’nat should be a testament to how lackluster CoS was.
It is why I play as little of the game as possible.
Imagine that at least in PVE, you have some kind of currency. I PVP it´s the same and with only 1 piece a week worth equipping, with ilvl 415, with no chance of WF or TF. GG.
Perhaps Blizzard should adopt an entirely different gearing philosophy. In SWTOR gear was ultimately customizable. The gear itself was merely an empty she’ll, a transmog piece basically. You would plug j different modules into the empty pieces to create the finished product of usable gear. You were able to remove modules, swap em around etc., giving you the ability to alter your stats for whatever reasons you might have. You didn’t have to regrind fir new gear, and it was easy and simple. The modules, and empty gear pieces could be set drops, or as actual truly random drops that anyone could roll for. Bye bye personal loot, you suck btw.
There’s options besides this totally unrewarding, terrible, and frustrating system that have forced on us now.
This is the thing.
Logged in last night for raid night, got my m+ chest with a 10 iLvl upgrade ring that was a downgrade.
Had enough money for a 47k azerite piece, and… only usable for my off specs. Twenty iLvl upgrade but a downgrade for my main spec. Three 47k pieces and none for my main so far.
There’s a lot of things I like about retail, mostly m+ and raiding. The mechanics can be way over the top but overall the challenge and game play is fun.
Classic with all it’s faults, and there are a lot of them, is just so much more fun and rewarding right now.
Left that RNG madness for classic. I don’t like playing slot machines for the same reasons. No payoff.
in legion I had a mythic + 12 maximum item, when +15 dungeons were the max. not to mention of course 15 + titanforge doesn’t drop maximum lol. it was ilvl 955 when 955 was the max, coming from a 900 base. all my friends hated me.
One of the biggest problems with a RNG system that works against the players is that it does not encourage effort… if the guy who does nothing in a +0 has the same chance at a 455 as the guy busting his butt to time a +14… where’s the incentive to do anything?
