dont forget there are mulitple types of credit cards just like there are multiple ways to RMT, just like you yourself JUST stated. AH,GDKPs etc etc… you keep not adding that part to your analogy

but there isn’t multiple ways here, just the auction house, gdkps are banned and we’ve come to the conclusion that the auction house is causing RMT, so why isn’t it banned?
I like to compare GDKPs to Asbestos and lead paint.

Couple things to go over for this. But you have to take in a couple things, for one thing you can get into GDKP’s without any gold if you know the people hosting it. Generally GDKP communities are run with the raid leader + Officers + Pumpers. Organized GDKP communities look for whales or buyers and generally these people are the ones buying gold.
Now what we found out from the SoD GDKP ban is that a lot of the super popular GDKP communities were actually taking all the gold they could get and either selling it directly to the botters/RMT sellers for a discount price or they were selling it directly to their own community for $. It’s why when the GDKP ban got announced the GDKP communities threatened to switch to “Paypal” or “Direct pay” raids, where people could bet using real money.
Did they take off? Don’t think so, after all most raid leads would try and take a % cut, and people didn’t mind gold but at that point people were just paying $ to raid. After this started to fail the GDKP communities put out posts saying that they were no longer going to play.
Imagine that, the ban happened and entire guild infrastructures started to fall apart. One might think. “Hey, well Cata and Era still have GDKP’s why not go over there?”
Well, the other problem is that those markets are saturated already. Simply put SoD was a fresh experience and that means a fresh market.
Now, I don’t hate GDKP’s personally, I think it’s a good loot system. If RMT never existed it would probably be the best loot system, Blizzard should really try to make their own version of it with say tokens that drop off each boss and then people can use those tokens to bet for gear and then if you want you can sell those tokens to a vendor for gold.
Tokens remove RMT from it, and it keeps the better/auction format of GDKP’s and it gives people that don’t need gear a good bit of gold by selling tokens to a vendor.
GDKP isn’t evil, it’s just a tool. But like all tools they can be used in crime and evil. Sadly, its the fault of the community for partaking in knowing RMT out of greed instead of stamping it out.
Also RMT loves GDKP’s, bottom line they don’t even need to bot that much when it’s enabled. Considering that people can sell the botters the gold back to them for real money and the botters then sell it to new people at higher rates.
