Rise of the Streamer

Eh? Maybe this is one of the major problems, people can’t even read let alone have a higher thought process that just might include an opinion that a streamer also agrees with lol.

What “name calling?”

You really didn’t.

Lets say you have two streamers, streamer A and streamer B. Streamer A likes, for example, Torghast and you also like Torghast. Streamer B doesn’t like Torghast and I also don’t like Torghast. Which one of us has been influenced in our opinion? Or is it just that, opinions that were already decided and only reinforced, not influenced?

I was thinking this. I don’t watch streamers live and only know what’s going on with them when someone else brings them up here.

If I had to pick one negative thing that streamers have done to wow, it would be that they make it so some people don’t think for themselves.

IMO-
Streamers are good for fps games.
YouTubers are good for mmos.

Watching an mmo stream is really boring. But going to YouTube and picking point of view runs is good. Sadly, there isn’t enough YouTube videos like this. A YouTuber will put out a video a week it seems.

If you’re not catching Amouranth’s streams, you’re really missing out.

games have gotten worse almost entirely due to monetization designs and systems and the negative outcome domino effect on the player experience and player value

I don’t think it ruined it, per-say.

When streamers get obvious catering though, and/or if a game changes to accommodate these streamers, that’s where I draw some lines.

I’d rather gouge out all of my innards.

Worth quoting.

This is correct but it is not because of streamers, it is because of the greed of the game companies and new generation’s acceptance of anything as good.

Bet this applies to most of us here.

I was a Sega guy. Remember Road Rash?

todays streamer was yesteryear’s youtuber. it’ll pass.

If you participated in the game it would, probably more than you realize.

I do!! I remember all of those old games. the 90’s were the golden era. A lot of SNES and SEGA games hold up. Something about 8/16/32 bit that just aged gracefully. The earlier 3D era, not so much.

Tier lists (or similar breakdowns) and such existed WAY before streaming.

And we’re hardly imbibed by the masses. So…

Don’t bring this weak sauce in here and try to pretend that tier lists or meta gaming was ever anywhere near the level it is today.

i think some streamers cause issue IE asmondgold tyler1 etc they ruin what streaming is for everyone because people watch them for their rampant rages and toxic behavior. but then there are streamers like jbdot who show the best of a game community. helpful informative etc.
only way to fix it would to ban out the toxic people and have games prop them up IE riot propping on tyler1 and how the WoW community props up a person who hates the game because he has lost his skill.

I’ll never forget the feeling of dread playing Resident Evil 1 & 2 at night…no idea what was around every corner…

Dread in a good way!

Your problem isn’t centered around gaming, it’s centered around the streamer communities.

Asking if gaming has gotten worse in the year of Elden Ring is absolutely silly.

I’ll never forget the feeling of playing through earthbound, ff7, ff8, ff9, ff10 and 10-2 without a strategy guide or streamer telling me what to do.

When I beat those games, I felt so rewarded. Now everyone EXPECTS you to play a certain build in a certain way.
