The fun was killed when they first announced this covenant system.
Also it keeps the âhamster on the wheelâ grind effect going. But yeh obviously it didnât work this time and had to scrap it.
Theyâve decided that the game as it was originally designed was wrong. That it should have started more hardcore, and it should have grown more hardcore with each expansion. And that it could have done that without any loss of subscribers. I think devs believe at this point that there would still be peak population if the game was only hardcore enough.
The earlier devs should never have given players quality of life features. It is pointless arbitrary inconveniences that makes a game truly hardcore.
They want to be able to to design independent expansions without having to integrate them into an existing tradition or functionality. Clearly they are not competent to do this. I think though from within their bubble theyâre blaming players and their unreasonable expectations. Like wanting to have fun. If youâre playing the game to have fun, youâre playing it for the wrong reasons.

Damn itâs almost like when we said that it would be have been off being talents from the start and just make it purely cosmetic
Because we basically got our way but everything got gutterstomped to do it
I agree with every word of that I think maybe.
Yeah, I watched one former critic now saying soulbinds donât matter for performance. The 1% wins again in helping make WoW a bland product. Blizzard listens to the same people every year and canât figure out why retail subs decline.
Hope they have BC Remastered ready to go for late next year or early 2022. Gotta keep up those MAUs. lol
Sigh⌠so they took a play out of arena nets playbook⌠when arena net launched GW2 they nerfed the hell out of racial abilities to make them âundesirableâ to slot over class skills⌠because âitâs too difficult to balance otherwiseâ⌠and âif they were on par with class skills everyone would choose the racials over most class skillsâ⌠stupidâŚ
If your going to add something like that IT MUST BE USEFUL OR IT HAS NO REASON TO EXIST! itâs one thing to have an ability that is mostly useless that you can use at any time and arnt giving up something else for⌠but when you have to actively make a choice then the ability absolutely must be useful.
THAT ISNâT THE RIPCORD
The ripcord was the promise that the cov abilities and conduits and soulbinds could be separated from the covenants themselves. The ripcord did not balance the abilities it made it so you could use any ability whilst in any covenant hence making the covenants all equal not necessarily the abilities.
Iâm anti-ripcord, but Iâm not sure what everyone here seems to be complaining about.
From what some people were saying, Covenant abilities were making up roughly 40-50% of a characterâs DPS, which seemed way off.
An 80-90% nerf puts covenant choice at roughly 5-10% of the character power pie. Isnât that honestly the way it should be?
And yet people will still min/max it and tell you that you choose the wrong covenant for that spec/class, and hold you out of content based on it.
The only way Blizz will ever be able to balance things to the standard of the top most raiders and key pushers, is to simple let the players design the spec, a single set of talents for ST raid bosses, a single set of talents for AoE raid bosses and a single set of talents for m+.
Then have those âzero optional choice specsâ auto activate upon each bit of content, with zero restrictions at all. AoE specs for trash, enter âST boss fightâ and your toon auto swaps to the ST raid boss talents and appropiate gear. There will be zero difference between players outside of ârng dps, rng raid mechanic caused my dps to dropâ.
Imagine that game guys.
Maybe the issue the entire time was the players themselves, the theorycrafting âmetaâ style of gameplay that has infected out much loved mmo.
Itâs hard seeing whatâs become of Blizzard. It really is.
Talents shouldnât be AoE/ST/Cleave, or PvE/PvP/Casual. They should be something like Noob/Midwit/Chad. One a passive that just works as you do your rotation, one a short CD that you work into your rotation and a WeakAura can tell you exactly when to push it, one a long CD that you need to plan around with encounter knowledge / predicting your opponentâs moves. The damage can be the most rewarding for the Chad long CD, as long as the Noob talent isnât worse enough to be unusable. A difference of 3% or so.
In Magic they call this Timmy/Johnny/Spike cards.
I love how this thread is a bunch of people just taking OP at their word, when none of the beta releases support what OP said : There has been no 70-90% nerf at all.
Yâall got trolled bad and all took the bait without even bothering to check Beta changes.
Sounds like a you problem.
Badger Blizzard until everything gets nerfed and made worthless. Could it have been interesting? Yeah, it really could have. Now it will be a small upgrade that will STILL BE COMPLETELY MANDATORY, but wonât actually feel good when you get them.
Thank you to the community for the endless threads, crying about the things you had no information regarding, voicing opinions you didnât form on your own, and crusading something you had little maturity about. So, again, thank you. The game will suffer for your efforts and Sl as well as WoW will be worse off.
Dude, nothing the OP claims is true.
There has been no 70 top 90 % nerf on Beta.
Does no one bother to even check Beta releases before just believing what some dolt on GD says anymore ?
What the heck happened to critical thinking ?
It has already been changed multiple times, my point stands.
Sure it has, but not to the extent OP claims and certainly not recently. The last change was just shuffling around Soulbind abilities.
Donât worry, youâll still get your âinterestingâ math puzzle of figuring which Covenant is actually good for your class/spec, and itâll be the one you didnât want aesthetically, and that will be âinterestingâ somehow to you. Itâll be just like they promised.
My point wasnât about the extent of the changes, it was about people complaining on the forums until things get nerfed or systems gutted. I thought my point was clear, I guess it wasnât.
How dare people not want what is an aesthetic and story choice to be reduced into a math equation.
