Bet they’re gonna use the excuse of “Innovation!” they should never mess with a system that works.
It feels like every new zone is made by a completely new set of devs who carry out different philosophies and don’t give a damn about what other devs did before.
I feel like every zone handles rares differently and everytime there’s a good solution to a problem, they create a new one at the same time. A great example:
Players: “Rares are dying so fast, we don’t have a chance to get the kill after they’ve spawned”
Blizzard: Implements a spawn protection with an announcement that the rares are there. AND buff the HP into ridiculous hights.
So now they fixed a problem… but created a new one. And then in ED… they go back and reintroduce rares with little HP that don’t have any spawn protection or announcements at all. Just… why?
Remember how elites had shared cross faction tagging in BfA, except when they designed mobs for 8.3 they didn’t? I remember being the only Alliance in the Vale working together with the only Horde to alternate tagging on the mobs so we could both get credit for half. And quest items that disappeared after the first player looted them, so if you were fighting a mob that was camping the item, somebody else could ninja it while you had the mob engaged. Stuff like that makes me feel they WANT to encourage players to act like toxic jerks, because bullies are their favorite people.
They can’t help themselves but continuing to bring back game mechanics that feel bad and waste players’ time.
Oh god. I completely forgot about that. -_-
True, they actually brought this mechanic back for some DF quests which caught me completely off guard. So much that I handed in bug reports at the start of DF after doing some quests and WQs.
Like every other rare, start small and scale if multiple players show up!
They need to do this to dream buffed rares as well, those guys have like 8m health and sometimes arent soloable.
This is a funny change though, who thought this was a good idea?
Zone is dead, all rares up but nobody can kill them. Solution? Just despawn the rares.
Huh!?
I love someone who uses the same type of humor as me to comment on a system. A Heart for you my friend. But by that same logic: Barely anyone is in the Legion, BfA, Shadowlands zones doing World Quests, we should despawn those too!
There are plenty of things to collect in those zones, so they still get more activity than ZC ever did. And it wasn’t even horrible to do back when these expansions/zones were current. They don’t have a good excuse for their handling of ZC.
Isn’t it dead content with the ED available anyways? I mean, can you get something better from there than you can ED??
There are transmog items, battle pets, mount(s) and other cosmetic items to get from ZC that are really hard to get because Blizzard can’t be bothered to add proper scaling mechanics. It’s not always about player power.
Z.caverns was dead not even a week after it was released. And its not about the gear at this point. It’s about the collectibles.
Fair enough, it’s not why I play the game. But I respect other people’s play style.
I feel like that was specifically a WM issue. I remember complaining about that back in BfA and WM-off players were all “WTF are you talking about?”
I never did the zones in warmode. This happened during Shadowlands.
It’s still a thing, too, even in DF. Rares are faction tag locked in War Mode. Considering most instances in my experience are swarming with Alliance in War Mode, well…you know. Not a productive or enjoyable experience. That’s why I do my PvP quests and then go back to normal gameplay.
Just had a thought and it’s something I’ve been wanting to step into; but how would everyone feel if I live streamed my thoughts while I play WoW and you all can come in and pick my brain apart and see how I feel on certain aspects, listen to me compare how things are done in various MMO’s I’ve played, nostalgia talk of the good ole days and my thoughts on the future?
Only disclaimer is I am no means savvy yet on layouts with neat lil graphs and charts. I don’t care about the subs or notoriety but I feel like live reactions would be a fun thing to step into.
I’m not going to say that other MMOs don’t occassionally have good ideas, but I will say that making direct comparisons to most of them are useless simply because they aren’t financially successful.
Like DCUO tied achievment hunting directly to player power and than monetized it so that you can skip any you did on alts by giving them money, and that basically prevents them from ever implementing anything akin to a warband system as it would directly murder their bottom line.
They tend to keep an eye on streamers/youtubers given how easily their influence spreads. I don’t think it’d be a bad idea at all. If nothing else, your voice will be a little louder this way.
I tend to only play the big name MMO’s that lean more on the financially successful side; two of those being FFXIV and GW2 and while I don’t play FFXI as much as I used to it was still head to head with WoW in it’s hayday.
I’ve played other MMO’s but they have since dwindled which is a testament to how unsuccessful they were.
Make them the equivalent of the some of the level 72 ones that are around the DF zones. That way decently geared characters can do them alone. Just wind their difficulty back to that. It’s not that difficult to do I would imagine.
I just started ZC yesterday for the mog you get from rares and treasures. So if they’re not showing on the map now, how are you supposed to find them? Is there an addon work around? I don’t mind grouping up, but I do mind not having a reliable way to find rares.
Can someone give me a quick rundown of how to get rares now please?
