Rip zaralek caverns. rares will despawn now

We recently found an issue that was causing zones like Zaralek Caverns to be underpopulated. We’re working on a hotfix for that, and once we’ve deployed the fix, you should start seeing more players and have an easier time finding others to group with.

So let me get this straight. You found an “issue” that was causing the zone to be underpopulated…NOW?!

W.T.F.???

Where were you when half the playerbase was complaining about this on the forum 6 months ago??? Where were you when we were raging about the premature death of ZC because there weren’t enough players for the design of the zone thus making it literally unplayable??? Why is it only now you have found this “issue”? What is this “issue”? Is it the fact that you sharded the zone way too much? Or is it that many players fled the zone due to how useless the gear it provides was when it first came out? Did you perhaps realize that you need to make open world gear actually competitive to instanced content gear since the majority of cosmetic farmers left the game towards the end of SL? Was it because people got fed up that 10.1 came and went and we STILL DON’T HAVE LEGACY LOOT ENABLED FOR SL OR THAT HALF THE RAID BOSSES IN BFA CAN’T BE KILLED SOLO???. Did you perhaps figure out that workng on legacy content actually feeds current content populations? Did you make that logical leap yet??? Did you finally understand that you gave the rares way too much HP such that they became too annoying to kill and after your loot lockout change, everybody bailed since it was the last nail in the coffin???

How do you know you are not being listened to and considered? They likely have, and just don’t agree with your opinion. Just because you were randomly chosen out of a hat doesn’t make you special and automatically have the game bent to your whims.

OMG I completely forgot about that achieve. LOL! I mean, I already got it when it first came out so I’m fine. But for anyone else trying to get it now? LMAO RIP! That’s a big OOF! Right there.

Everything in the Fyrakk even is soloable for at least half of the classes and specs (which is the real problem if there is one, but those that aren’t good here were never good to solo anyways (priest is one example, unless you’re overgeared)), even the big boss if you’re a tank, cuz the NPCs will eventually kill it for you.

I like how that one Blue Post in the Community Council area is like “We recently found an issue that was causing zones like Zaralek Caverns to be underpopulated.”

If you ask me, part of what’s causing stuff like Zaralek Caverns and Storm’s Fury to be underpopulated is because people just don’t have incentives to be there. Most people got what they wanted as soon as the content was available and most people presumably didn’t find it fun enough to continue doing it.

If they can’t get ZC and FR right after being out for so long I wouldn’t be getting my hopes up for those delves or pretty much anything in the coming xpac. We all know by now what they say and what actually happens are two different things. I’ll bet all my WoW gold that when the delves come out there’ll be so many restrictions on them that they’ll be DOA. Mark my werds.

It’s weird that something so simple as adjusting the health of rares is obvious to the players but the devs just can’t get their heads around it.

This is such a hilarious post, really. They treat it like a weird technical problem or bug, when in reality people just don’t want to go there anymore because of how badly designed the rare spawns are.
The so called “fix” will change nothing, as we’ve seen with server merges. Two dead servers thrown together still equal one dead server in the end. And this is how it’ll go with Zaralek phases.
Usually I’m just mildly annoyed or can’t understand stuff Blizzard is doing. But right now I’m so mad about their behaviour, it’s unbelievable how they’re trying so so hard to prevent players from just soloing these damn rares and try to justify it with the weirdest takes.

I’ve been trying to figure out a single reason this makes sense, but can’t . Unfortunately, this is gonna be something that people will have to come back to during the first patch of Midnight in 30 months or so.

Rubbish decision, should be reverted and a nerf on the rare HP added in its place.

Fun fact. If you try to rely on the NPCs to kill the fyrakk boss, the boss actually despawns since the NPCs take too long to kill it. The boss appears to have some sort of internal timer.

Went down to ZC and saw a whopping two rares up. There’s no reason to start a murderball over two rares. The despawn hotfix is a purely negative change and needs to be reverted.

Dead zone is dead zone.

I should try that.

The only thing i could think behind this change that would make it make sense is if they were to add in some update to it for season 4 (fated)

Either way, i have no plans to go down there again until next expansion unless things get nerfed

I don’t know why Blizzard is intent on having the Forbidden Reach and Z Cavern rares harder and larger HP sponges than Emerald Dream - the zone everyone is at.

Blizzard needs to swallow their pride and just scale down these zones so that they can be soloed.

apparently the rares in emerald dream are…ASLEEP ON THE JOB. OH YEAH! :sunglasses:

Because they are echoing the sentiments of a LOT of players on the Forums currently? In fact those for this change seem to be in the VERY tiny minority. I’ve seen less than 5 people defend this.

Blizz, the post explaining your reasoning is appreciated, but you’re still on the wrong track.

You aren’t going to encourage mobs of players to hunt the rares in Zaralek Cavern and Forbidden Reach unless they are dropping items that give a competitive advantage in Emerald Dream content. I would be shocked if you made that decision, and more shocked if it even worked.

The patch zones for previous seasons need to be scaled down to be comfortable for solo players and small groups to enjoy. The goals should be allowing current max level players to finish up their achievements during the last half of this expansion and preparing the patch zones to be an integral part of the leveling/story campaign experience during The War Within to keep narrative cohesion for new players.

Scaling the zones down now solves both problems and then you can focus on other things instead of readdressing the same problem for another 6 months.
