RIP Akira Toriyama

I was thinking of posting this a bit ago at the gym. It’s sad… Loved DB and DBZ as a kid. He’s gone to see King Kai.

I’d say we should use the dragon balls to rez him but since he’s their creator they no longer work :c

How does one not know the creator of Dragon ball series and Dragon quest games artists!?

Whatcha mean WHO?!

Sigh, first the Berserk writer and now DBZ.

And neither particularly old.

Pretty sure they were just trying to troll.

I would think that would just make it worse… Trolling in a memorial post about someone dying. Sad sick world we in today.

No joke. There’s a reason I didn’t take that bait, because hooo boy do I have some choice words for people wanting to troll something like this. So I very seriously hope it ISN’T a troll attempt, and they just lived under a rock their whole life.

Yea this one hit hard for me.

You know what’s weird? I started dragon ball with my girlfriend today (she’s never seen them, so starting from the beginning). We took a nap, woke up and got a text from a friend saying he was gone :frowning:

Really hits the heart strings. I remember so often as a kid waiting for DBZ on toonami after school just had to see the next episode and talk about it with friends next day at school.

Apparently it was a clot in the top of the skull resulting from a fall possibly. Sucks as you age it seems anything will take you out. :frowning:

This is really really sad. I’ve been watching Dragon Ball since I can remember and I’m still watching it these days.

In many ways, Toriyama’s work helped shape the person I am today.

JDF was great, I used to follow his page on Facebook, I was devastated when it happened, especially with how it happened

Original DB? Not Z? That show was wild. So good though.

I never heard of him too.

As long as they don’t stop with DB its ‘‘aight’’, still need to watch a last few series.

RIP

Yup dragon ball! I still laugh at innocent Goku haha. It definitely has its own charm and beauty. We’re gonna do the entire dragon ball-Z-Super, and GT although I think it’s non cannon now. (Thankfully) I just love anything dragon ball

Yeah GT is non canon now. I remember really being into it when i was in high school, because that was before it was dubbed. We got by with ultra low, year 2000 quality downloads, with unreliable subtitles. And most episodes missing. I think the mystery of it made it more fascinating.

I didn’t hear about this. This is really sad.

He’s probably one of the most important people in Japan’s success with manga and anime around the world. DB and DBZ were a lot of peoples introduction into anime.

I remember getting out of school and watching DBZ every day… the cliffhangers, lol.

And the 10 min til namek explodes lasting a bazillion episodes xD

There’s actually a good explanation for that. DBZ characters move a lot faster than the human eye can see, so DBZ fights happen in slow motion.

Don’t forget he also did the art for Chrono Trigger.
