Riots MMO will be hard competition when it comes out

I think that the first expansion destroyed the game. They added two big continents, about doubling the landmass. Pity that, where the original continents were full of lively content, towns, mobs, diverse landscapes, the new continents were drab wastelands rich only in ruins. And of course, the original content, which was good, became outdated and made irrelevant.

I will say the League MMO does have a good chance of getting its roots into the market and staying if they don’t mess it up too hard.

In the news, things taken out of context and spinned to infuriate the masses. More at 10.

wiggles toes

If you go by what they are hiring for one of the positions qualifications is having experience using Unity or Unreal Engine 4 along with experience with games for PC/Mobile/Console.

I could just be looking into it wrong but I’m hoping they use a in house engine and I really hope it’s not for mobile. Just my opinion though.

I don’t disagree seeing the hype it’s generating. That said though it’s bizarre to me how much of a pass Riot gets when their internal issues were OBJECTIVELY worse than anything happening at Blizzard, and we KNOW how bad things were at a Blizzard.

Like, I’ve pointed this out a few times and people keep willfully ignoring it, but $100 million settlement vs. $18 million settlement. Just imagine how much worse the situation was to settle for over 5 times as much as the company with the most publicly aware lawsuit in gaming. And even now, there’ll be people who will try and brush this comment under the rug.

I know it’s a common thing, as I’ve seen many posts identical to thos one over the past 15+ years

but with all the OG Blizz talent merged with Riots talents and talent they poached from Eve. Also the funding and development time the game has, I really think it’s gunna be amazing!

There are a lot of reasons why I think this way after reading into it but it’s just a wait and see. However it has the potential to be the one.

Also gunna be based on the Arcane(League of Legends series).

competition is good for both games.

But will it have playable undead?

Will it have trolls with beautiful blue feet?

In league lore there’s a region called Shadow Isles with a bunch of ghosts and undead, so possibly?

New World honestly didn’t look good to me from the jump.

I feel like the main thing New World had going for it that made people hype for it was the timing of how it was released when it was cool to hate wow (while wow was going thru a downturn and lawsuits etc).

Honestly though, I’ve done a good deal of research into the riot MMO and for the first time since starting wow, I’m literally looking forward to it so I can join that game!

Some of you people overthink this and act like you’re loyalty to wow and refusal to simply try other games will hurt your status with wow or something.

No one truly wants wow to die. Competition will make wow better. New games with creative ideas will help wow more than canceled games will.

If New World waited another 6 months to release then it’d been much better off. It’ll take some massive changes to bring back players like me that got bored and quit. 1-60 and the wpvp was by far the best gaming experience I’ve had since actual wow vanilla. That awesome feeling died out slowly after hitting max level.

Riot’s game being good and giving wow competition is what everyone should hope for. Wow will be forced to be more innovative.

I think a lot of people leaving wow for ff is because wow is in such a terrible state the asian furry mmo actually starts looking lucrative. Wow lowered their bar to it’s competitions level.

digs through massive pile of old pre-purchased WoW headstones

Maybe this one that reads “2004-2012” can be modified into “2004 -2022”.

As much as I am unhappy with WoW right now, these threads serve no purpose as we know less than nothing about the riot MMORPG.

And WoW will always have a decent sized playerbase and continue to make money for whoever owns it. No matter the state of the game.

If you want WoW to get better, you should hope that the Riot MMO is good. Competition drives improvement, and blizzard seems to be complacent with WoW since there hasn’t really been any real competition pushing them to prove why they got the crown all those years ago.

Any game that draws players away from WoW is competition. I am tempering my expectations on Riot’s mmo, but it is definitely on my radar for the future. (3 to 5 years from now)

It’s impossible to tell until we see detail on what kind of MMO it will be.

If it’s going to be part of the sandboxy PvP centric MMORPG wave that is currently happening, it will be a big flop after a few months.

We don’t even know what kind of mmo it will be
if it’s not a tab target/hotkey mmo with an established end game, it’s not even in competition.

WoW still maintains because it has great end game.

THIS.
100 times THIS.

You should all be PRAYING it’s good, it will finally get Blizzard’s butt in gear if it is.

Everytime another MMO tries and fails, that just makes the dev teams ego all the bigger and they go back to doing just enough to squeak by.

I mean, they shouldn’t be sleeping at all with FF wrecking them in a lot of content besides end game

This is true.
I wish I could get FF to “click” with me, tried 3 times.
It just doesn’t.
