No i get that but you asked, is it a racial slur. Yes Gypsy is a racial slur. Should it be bannable… I dunno man…
I personally think RCR isn’t worth the trade off. Unless of course people are really just crappy and won’t report people for things they should cause “I CBA to file the ticket.” Which it seems like people are.
I know I’ll file a ticket with or without RCR for bots, goldsellers, and exploiters. Never been a fan of banning for words that offend.
Thank you. Someone who understands nuance and doesn’t immediately jump to the worst possible scenario to try and score a point.
Ok. look. Let’s say we all agree that using the N-word is a bannable offense. Are we talking about just the traditional spelling, or the casual spelling also with the “a” at the end?
These are potential account bans we are talking about, so we need to be clear.
Because I guarantee you if we start auto-banning for the N-word there are eventually going to be a bunch of kids (< 16yo) getting perma-banned for making Naga jokes.
Or maybe we report someone and let CS look into it. Temporary ban for obvious violations. Permanent bans for repeated violations.
You know… decisions based on common sense rather than knee-jerk outrage and virtue signaling.
You’re equating a racial slur being used to someone being racist, which isn’t always true. If you really don’t think Gypsy is a racial slur, read up son.
I was born in the wagon of a travellin’ show
My mama used to dance for the money they’d throw
Papa would do whatever he could
Preach a little gospel, sell a couple bottles of doctor good
Gypsy’s, tramps, and thieves
We’d hear it from the people of the town
They’d call us gypsy’s, tramps, and thieves
But every night all the men would come around
And lay their money down
Picked up a boy just south of mobile
Gave him a ride, filled him with a hot meal
I was sixteen, he was twenty-one
Rode with us to Memphis
And papa woulda shot him if he knew what he’d done
Gypsy’s, tramps, and thieves
We’d hear it from the people of the town
They’d call us gypsy’s, tramps, and thieves
But every night all the men would come around
And lay their money down
I never had schoolin’ but he taught me well
With his smooth southern style
Three months later I’m a gal in trouble
And I haven’t seen him for a while, uh-huh
I haven’t seen him for a while, uh-huh
