Right Click Reporting is out of the beta. No official word yet

One data point is that you weren’t silenced, though.

True, but the only people I ever see getting silenced tend to be those who are spamming racist nonsense or something.

It did and it didn’t. While it has hit extremes, I’m also noticing that the people most vocal against it are the ones mad that they can’t get away with casually making racial slurs anymore. It’s almost like it’s a refusal to accept responsibility for what they say and do.

How do you see if someone is silenced? The whole point of silencing is that you don’t see them

They tend to vocally complain about it when given the opportunity.

This is way more of a “this is we why can’t have nice things” scenario than a “cut off your nose to spite your face” scenario. If people didn’t abuse right click reporting, we could all have an easier time reporting gold sellers and bots, but since they do, this happens.

Still all for the change though, hope it’s intentional and permanent.

Yes there are ,and the squelch length doesn’t work like that, what you are describing is how the silence penalty works.

But the amount of people who abused it were so low… In reality, no, guilds aren’t going to be report spamming you because you’re farming the same thing that they are. And if they do, that guild will be taking a vacation from WoW.

To reiterate since I don’t think he wants to understand: The silence penalty that comes AFTER a Blizzard employee reviews the reports.

The number of people who get falsely accused of crimes is low, too. But they made it a crime to file false reports, and you don’t have people automatically sentenced when the police are called for a reason.

It isn’t reporting that is the problem, but the auto-squelch that is the problem. If someone does something you don’t like, ignore them. If there’s 10-20 people who are having fun in trade chat, and that gets your panties in a twist because how dare other people have fun in a way that is different from yours, then ignore those 10-20 people, and be done with it.

Once again, and read it slowly: IT TAKES MULTIPLE PEOPLE FOR IT TO SQUELCH. If that many people are reporting you, you deserved it.

Do you actually have an example of someone being punished for abusing right click reporting? Because I cant imagine Blizzard would do anything about a player spamming RCR in a reporting system that’s largely automated anyway.

Just one more nail in this coffin:

Every example you posted had to do with repeated spam. Since gold sellers did that I have no experience with it.

Beginning in legion you got squelched for ANYTHING found offensive by just posting it once. That included joining in on a political discussion with no foul language or any violation. That included being one of 20 people making a Thunderfury or Chuck Norris joke just ONCE. The system now squelches you for NON violations if just a few people don’t like it and report you.

There is ZERO evidence of abusers getting punished. There are a metric ton of people complaining about being unfairly squelched.

One poster here provided proof they were squelched during a trump political discussion for posting “I don’t think he’s done a bad job so far.”

So no, the threshold for squelching for anything and everything did not occur until Legion. That is when the complaints started. Touche’ on being technically correct that squelch was implemented for an extreme minority prior to Legion. I wouldn’t know as I’ve never sold gold. I concede the technicality.:clap:

I DO love the part of the post you linked where the Blue ENCOURAGED people to tell others to report things that the “realm” found inappropriate.

This, directly from a blue, means we need to report every post here spamming and trolling for changes Classic. Thank you for that link.

You sure do have a hard time admitting you’re wrong and instead completely veered off course to go on some pathetic rant. The auto-squelch was not put into the game in Legion, period. Fact. Undeniable truth. You were wrong, you’re a liar and you’re bad at this forum game.

I was wrong about when it was introduced for gold spammers. You were correct.

You are being obtuse and lying trying to claim it did not become a mob rule SJW problem in Legion.

It has become a mob rule problem on this very forum. I’ll play that game. :kissing_closed_eyes:

I got muted back in Legion for 3 months because people did not appreciate the fact that I was posting AotC sales in trade chat, and I complained to a few other people who do the same thing.

That has been happening since WoD.

Guilds will go out of their way to mass report you for spamming SO THAT THEY DO NOT HAVE TO COMPETE WITH YOU IN ADVERTISEMENTS (even though you physically cannot spam trade chat, and I made sure not to do that by spacing it 2-3 minutes in between posts) … and this happened at least 3-4 times until I got to my breaking point of being muted in-game for 3 months.

Enough is enough.

People WILL abuse the sh!t out of that system if given the chance in classic.

I could personally deal with not being able to type in-game on retail for 3 months because the game doesn’t require an immense amount of communication (even though it hurt me a lot being on an RP realm and not being able to RP outside of party)

Of course the GMs I talked to told me to suck it up and stop spamming in trade chat because more than 10+ reported my ad, despite other people posting AotC sales in trade as well.

Prove it. You’ve explicitly stated you’re reporting people in this thread just for fun, and nothing is happening. We know that if you have numbers similar to asmongolds entire viewer ship reporting at once, you can auto-squelch someone. Good luck getting several hundred people in a single place to agree to do something on a server with vanilla populations. Also, Asmongold got punished by blizzard for that stunt, so there are repercussions for trying to abuse it.

Uh Did you appeal your mute? 3 months is a rather stiff mute. I suspect you aren’t telling us all the story?

Lol the first silence is 24 hours and it doubles from there. For a 3 month ban it means it was at least your 7th time being silenced… Innocent every time I’m sure?

Edit to fix my math
