No 250 people is 2%.
It’s a statistically small amount of people.
Sort of my point.

Actually, people who are wailing and wringing their hands about being squelched assume that what they say is offensive. Either that’s because they know it is, or because they have such low self esteem they think everyone is offended by them.
RCR isn’t going to be used anywhere near like the claims. Or I wouldn’t constantly see references to US politics on an RP server.
Well are you going to do it? If not… who really cares?
If you are, was that really what made your mind up? If so frankly it was only a matter of time.
Someone tells me to “Go kys.” I just look at’em and go " F U" and go back to my beer. Seems like a better idea to me.
Personally? It is something I am struggling with. I just saw a therapist for the first time last week with another appointment in about a month. I have had very dark moments where I’ve attempted it and I still think about it almost every day. Someone saying that at precisely the wrong moment on precisely the wrong day might end up pushing me over that edge.
You do what you want, but I am going to RCR them and then try to forget about it. RCR clears it from my chat and lets Blizzard know of the type of malcontent they have playing their game.
I hardly ever engage in any chat other than guild. I just believe that people should take their own responsibility for dealing with stuff they may find “offensive”, which is a subjective term.
That’s what folks who want to be shock jock aspirants should do; find their own audience and speak to them. That sort of stuff when thrown into the public forum is subject to public scrutiny. Not to mention you already agree to certain rules when you log into the game.
I saw a therapist for almost 20 years. Then one day I realized something that changed my life. Get the hell over it. Literally all you have to do. Stopped the meds, stopped the therapist visits, and stopped giving a crap what others thought. Been a happier man for it.
You don’t have to please anyone but yourself and those you care about. Rest of the world can rot.
Why do you even care what some random person says to you in a video game?
You just broke that rule you agreed to.
I found that offensive.
Now what?
Not everyone is that strong. Some people are still trying to find that strength.
Again, you agree to certain rules when you log into the game and folks are well within their rights to report you for breaking them.
But but but… I make up well more than 2% of this conversation. I find what you say offensive. Should you be squelched?
Just let that thought process roll around a bit and you’ll see why it’s a meaningless rule.
You can report me and it’ll be up to Blizzard to decide whether I broke any rules.
If there was a GM that went over every report and then took negative action, I would be all for it. The problem is dishing out punishment before determining if any abuse took place. You know, the whole innocent until proven guilty thing.
You’d still be auto squelched.
The only part of RCR I have an issue with.
I have never seen a therapist, have thick skin, and still think RCR is a valuable tool for curbing trolls.
But would you accept being banned until blizzard decided you broke the rules?
That’s what the real question is.
GMs do look at it after the squelching has taken place. Then it’s up to them to uphold the punishment if it’s a rightful one, or they will punish those who abused the feature.
It’s still up to hundreds of people, your “2%” to decide when someone is autosquelched. If you piss off that many people then maybe you deserve it.
Honestly, I’ve never been squelched in this game. Because I don’t go out of my way to be a jerk or be some edgy shockjock in trade chat.
RCR has been around for over a decade of WoW. During it’s largest concurrent subscription period. When the game was so cut-throat that guilds were crashing instance servers to prevent other guilds from progressing.
So where was the abuse then? All the screaming in this thread are a bunch of whiners that don’t want to face consequences of their actions.
FYI: I am very pro RCR. Because most people are little more then animals that have learned a mere mediocrium of self-control and therefore think themselves better.
For the record I’ve done a fair bit of trolling in my day, but I’m actually dead serious about this subject. I’m 110% against any sort of automated muting software if it does more than mute that person for yourself.
Leave it up the the individual to decide what they want to see. Or at the very least make it optional. I very damn well might want to read what someone had to say, but they can’t say it because Jennie McThinskin and hiser 200 pierced, tatted, hairy cronies didn’t fine it PC enough for their coven.
No it’s not, you have a problem with Blizzard’s rules. You’ve said it multiple times in this thread, you think people should be able to say whatever they want. Blizzard’s rules don’t allow that.
