For the record Blizzards rules technically don’t allow ANY speech.
The problem here is that the individual who is hurling abuse is in no way reprimanded. “Just ignore them” doesn’t work when ignoring them is seen as a victory. It just spurs them to the next target.
Society exists within a framework of expectations. One of those expectations is respect for other people. For the last 20 years or so, that expectation has been faltering due to the anonymity provided to trolls by the Internet. The result of that is what we see in the US now, where people are emboldened to hold those distasteful attitudes up in public, and then crawl back into a corner and sulk with their anonymous buddies when they get slapped down. Like society, gaming communities need that slapping back down to highlight where the distasteful attitudes lie. Without the reprimand, the behavior not only goes unchecked, but is amplified by “Success”.

I mean it’s not like I’m going to be playing as long as RCR and layers are left in. As those are both happening I’m just waiting on “another” sever to copy those stats and hopping over there.

No. The concept of innocent until proven guilty is something that makes our society better than the days of burning witches. It is a problem that is creeping into our society again, which needs to be stopped before it really gets out of hand.

Maybe one day they’ll create a Mad Max style “anything goes” no rules type multiplayer game for folks like you, but I am not certain how well that would do.

I break Blizzard’s chat rules all the time. I’ve never been silenced or squelched and the only bans I’ve had were on this forum.
How does it affect you in any way whether they are reprimanded or not, if you /ignore and never see another post by them?
Well there you go. Don’t know anything about that game but I’m glad you’re having fun. Personally I prefer a bit of structure in my games though.
My community is bigger than just me. Don’t be self centered.

/ignore is letting the people trying to listen to the guy continue doing so.
RCR is just passing your insecurities onto others.
Can promise you I am not doing that. I’m just trying to enjoy the game. I don’t need people telling me to kill myself.
But not everyone in YOUR community finds words offensive.
Making /ignore account wide would be a much better step to take than auto squelch.
