Right Click Report - Not Going Away

I was the one who originally suggested that compromise months ago. It is, in my opinion, enough for me. It’s quite obvious at this point that Blizzard is content with their system as is and are making no modifications to it.

Yeah, and they’re all whining about RCR now.

You’re choosing to ignore one salient point: Everything you do in game is logged, and as much as people like to believe otherwise, Blizzard understands context.

Fear-mongering about RCR is pointless trolling.

I never claimed that it wasn’t, though generally that just falls under spam. Changing RCR to be more discerning is fine, but we’re not going back to the “GM Ticket only” model.

I don’t recall advocating going back go the GM ticket only model.

I have advocated leaving the convenience of RCR, but without the auto squelch for most things.

So we’re all good in the middle ground. Cool.

Man, will you look at these crazies… points to the extreme sides

It must be mighty cold down below if we agree.

/thread?

I would not be surprised to learn that blizzard does tweak this system a lot more than they tell us. It is certainly possible that this system will need some adjustments in classic just given the differences in communication that has to happen vs in BFA. Hopefully they’re open to it if it needs it.

You’re angling for another break?

Nah I’m just not bothering. I’m too damn old to be PC.

I question that, because “back in my day” people had to go out of their way to be offensive, instead of the modern “default blargh” setting.

Back in my day would be 90’s/early 2000’s PvP oriented games.

Where 2 outta 3 lines were trash talk.

All good. Can always hop on Conan exiles, max out my dong slider and go bomb some folks, trash talk, and give’em the full monty teabag for good measure.

Heh, until the rise of Counterstrike and then Battlefield/Call of Duty, gaming wasn’t all trash talk, or at least not intentionally offensive, because you were playing with friends at LAN parties.

It’s a modern affliction started around the late 90s early 2000s where people treated other players as anonymous and abuseable NPCs. Eventually that moved into WoW around Wrath/Cataclysm and is now the norm.

There’s a difference between intentional offence, in the modern style, and the traditional “I didn’t know that it was offensive because that’s what we always said” reaction to being politically correct. Trash talking prior to the anonymous player, was friendly rivalry and ribbing of known people. Now it’s just abuse by losers.

because willfully choosing in TYPED chat to break the rules you agreed to should have a swift punishment.
RCR needs swift punishment or it loses it’s ability to be effective.

Well that’s pretty much when I got into it after all.

The amount of s#it-talk going on in Unreal Tournament, MW4, lobbies ect… is just insta report these days.

Yet games without even chat filtering do just fine.

It’s called growing some skin.

Actually, in many respects, its called bowing to abuse. The lack of accountability is part of the problem. The worst offenders shouldn’t be allowed to set the terms of engagement.

Or … and I’m snowballing here, people can act like mature human beings. I know manners and respect are not that hard as I use both daily.

Define “mature.”

Who gets to judge it? Some guy that lives in mommas basement and get offended because someone told him to “stop being a butt-hurt whiner.”

Is that how we define “mature” now?

Alternatively, who gets to define mature?

The mental 5 year old who can’t handle being beaten in a computer game and decides the only appropriate response is to abuse random strangers and harass them?
