Do we know that none of those things happen? I would hope that they do not. Retail though had that stuff happen.
yes we do, the only thing that can happen is the squelch, there is no automated ban. Pretty much exactly what Priapis said.
Awesome!!! Great news. RCR with any other automated feature wouldâve caused unnecessary headaches!
Along with a possible (or even probable) DC accompanying that squelch.
You can say the DC is a bug, but that does not prevent the DC.
I think its a fair assumption to assume that in 2007 the abuse of this mechanic was far less prevalent because the internet community in 2007 was NOT the internet community in 2019.
Twitter hate mobs and pile-on tactics like mass false reports wernt much of a thing then. They are now.
The system didnât change, but the community has.
Thatâs not an argument to just scrap the system. That could easily be an argument to impose punishments for abusing the system.
Im not the one saying it, Blizzard is, and like you just said, âpossibleâ, also why I added pretty much what Priapis said.
Happy 4th!
You play online games why? To live in a sheltered world? Not how it works. You have the ignore feature we had then for a reason. Reporting is for actual issues. Someone offending you isnât an issue a GM should handle. If every time youâre offended you cry for action you might actually be the one with the problem.
You mistakenly think I care about being offended. This has nothing to do with offense snowflake. . This has to do with manners and people who believe they are above that.
And here you are the one who seems to be offended.
What a sad world view,
Thanks for taking the time to write.
This is pretty much what those who are against it want, too many crazies like op like to strawman and create arguments.
Pretty much the reason he posted it.
Well people arenât really mature enough to be given the power to auto ban someone, especially on the internet where some people can show their true selves.
I love that people are still suggesting this is about people being offended.
Is there not an ignore function? Ignore makes it so you canât see what one person says. Report is when you want OTHER people not to be able to see what somebody says and that person to be punished. I donât need you or anybody else deciding what speech I can look at.
Funny you called my opinion âfull on anarchy garbageâ in the other thread. Ignore is the only perfect solution. It gives every person the right to decide who they listen to on a case by case basis. wHoA MaN⌠tHaTâs JuST aNaRcHy!!!
Itâs as if you intentionally ignore the discussions of all the other threads on the subject.
At this point, you are getting rcr as designed. Want to see and post without a care? Do it in a player made channel.
Sorry but Iâm well within my rights to protest a feature that
- wasnt in vanilla.
- has a better solution
- seems to be less popular with people than the alternative
Ehh itâs easy enough to get rid of.
Everyone just spam it on everyone.
Itâll get removed fast enough.
Sorry but your âright to protestâ is not in question, but rather your perceived âright to post whatever you want whenever you wantâ.
- It will be in classic
- It is the best solution save having a personal GM to moderate each bad actor that cannot moderate themselves. The next best solution to that is you making your own anarchistic channel and spout/read garbage to your hearts content, but without a captive audience.
- It is only âless popularâ to those who prefer anarchy. This just in: you are not the majority. The majority wants to be able to communicate clearly in public channels that are designed for a specific use.
Blah blah, liberal, blah blah, only what I want to hear matters, blah blah.
Everyone wants to police the world on others behalf. Police yourself by using the âignoreâ feature and let the others decide.
The junior anarchists coming out of the woodwork is a sign that blizzard made the right decision of including their vision of rcr in classic.
Itâs like sudden light shined on roaches.
oh, so he wouldnât be a mindless sheep if he supported right-click report?
culture wasnât so bad back then, and by the time it was so bad, there was cross-realm stuff to make it so you donât have to worry about it
the difference between 2007 and now is that, now, people are more easily-offended than ever, people are mostly aware of the auto-squelching, and theres no LFD/LFR/CRZ to make it so you donât have to worry about being squelched for saying that theres more than two genders
also, itemization is diverse enough(not just NR gear) in vanilla WoW that, unlike in TBC, people will always care about world bosses
and vanilla had world buffs, also unlike TBC, and those could cause PvP on PvP servers
and not only that, but naxxaramas wonât be out the phase equivalent of patch 1.1.x, like BT/CoT: hyjal was out in patch 2.1.x; that contributed to making world bosses matter less in TBC than they did in vanilla,
