Not up on my Ion history, is there a connection there?
I just remember GS from EvE online being notorious for trolly shenanigans, similar in tone to intentionally mass reporting to silence people.

Well, for one thing, it is fun, and there are plenty of people who enjoy it, and remember Trade Chat or Barrens Chat as one of the more memorable parts of the old game.
For another, Trade Chat is where the people are. So that is where the banter happens. Because it is something happening spontaneously. Same as how world PvP isnât planned, for the most part. It just happens.
Banter in Trade is no different from a PvPer moving through Elwynn Forest ganking quest mobs for fun and then dodging other 60s who come to try and stop it. It is no different from kiting Doomlord Kazzak to Stormwind. It is no different from the Corrupted Blood Plague. It is no different from Tarren Mill and Southshore. It is no different from getting a bunch of people together to raid Stormwind for kicks.
Do those things cause inconveniences for people? Of course! No one could say otherwise. However, they are part of what made the game special. Having banter restricted to only âAltrageous-approved banter areasâ would be as chilling to the game as disabling PvP everywhere except battlegrounds.
Elitist Jerks were a splitter from (what became) Goon Squad. They were goons, but elite goons.
Also interesting fact: Sean Smith (killed in the September 11, 2012 attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi) was a goon. (Vilerat)
That is just awesome.

RCR actually provides a far more effective way to curb OOC chat in Classic than GMs ever could.
Great. I already said thatâs fine.
The specific information is relevant to the discussion for RCR, beyond your own response.
RCR will be a boon for the RP community to be able to silence people who are breaking the rules of an RP or RP-PVP realm in order to ensure that the chat is used for what itâs supposed to be used for.
While I donât doubt that a few numbskulls will report people joking around, as long as its relatively in character and not offensive, there shouldnât be any issues with most chat that doesnât devolve into racial slurs, gender attacks etc.
That is shame. It wont aid in recreating the vanilla experience.
âThe vanilla experienceâ of keeping public channels closed because they were so polluted with garbage, rendering them useless for day to day game play communication? That âexperienceâ?
Wasnât my experience. SoâŚ
Right Click Report is complete garbage. I got a silence for making a group for Mythic+ that had âNo Ragnaros, Quelâthalas, Azralon or Goldrinnâ in the description.
It can be abused by anyone who gets salty about anything, whether itâs against the rules or not. Classic WoW is even worse because if you canât talk you canât coordinate to make groups.
I suspect you are providing a fraction of what actually occurred.
Thatâs the entire story of what occurred. The entire story. There was nothing else said or done or exchanged with anyone. I got the silence overturned. Nice try though
how often did you spam it, what channel did you spam it in?
I didnât spam it. I made a LFG post that had that in the description lmao. One LFG post. It was written in no channels.
/sarcasm on
But, what about all those people claiming that RCR will not be abused?
Surely, they canât possibly be wrong and any evidence to the contrary must be fake and made up.
What about those claims that those who abuse the RCR will be harshly punished?
Surely Blizzard advised you that those who falsely reported had been noted, although they could not go into specifics regarding any action go taken against them.
/sarcasm off

Understand that many would be skeptical of such a claim, given the frequency of supposed innocents being squelched results in a good debunking by CS.
What do you mean it was posted in no channels?
I mean that it was posted in no channels. LFG isnât a channel itâs a group finder tool. I made a group for Mythic + Underrrot that had in the description no players from those servers. Thatâs all that occured. There is nothing else to the story, sorry. Be skeptical all you want, thatâs what happened.
Yep and you can get reported for setting bad descriptions. It sounds like people didnât particularly care for your bad description and reported you.
your bad description
How is that description a reportable offense?
