Exactly this and I don’t know of anyone who does want it retconned just as long as the matter is treated properly like the Dragonmaw Orc questline was literally universally loved.
Like he was there because he felt guilty for what he’d done and felt bad when they offered to ease his pain like even the way he died is an expression of how he feels as dying of old age and not in combat is seen as a dishonourable death for Orcs.
Like he wasn’t there running around bragging and cracking jokes the quest was serious, mature and emotional.

While this particular subject is something that Blizzard should have avoided at all costs given their inter-office drama over the past few years, I do hate that the reaction to this particular type of quests means that people get upset at the notion of having to do something really bad for the sake of the greater good, so Blizzard bends the knee to overly offended, constantly online people’s demands and remove it. We will never get to have our very own Arthas/Stratholme moment. Something that the majority of the people of Azeroth won’t understand and causes them to waver in trust/faith in their “champions.”

in this timeline, the Infinite Dragonflight was right…
preventing the portal from opening would save so many lives.
that would be a fantastic ending to Dragonflight. We get erased.

I mean, we’re still maintaining the timeline. The events in question still take place. We are just going to be aiding in her rescue (which also happened) instead of her torture. I really don’t see the issue here.

Incidentally all the Timelines we are maintaining are AUs converging upon the MU. In otherwords we are working to fix the AUs so that they match the One True Timeline.
The Bronze Dragonflight never moved to fix the AUs until the Infinite Dragonflight’s plan to converge the Timelines forced their hand.
Of course surely not all convergences will be resolved in time right?
Any convergences that spare the Continents and Islands and somehow shoves Supercontinent Kalimdor with a Night Elven Empire between them all may be untouched.

And she still did. Everything bad still happened to her in the lore and the story, which wasn’t retconned or shoved under a rug. The player character just isn’t forced to enable the continued assault on her person for some random currencies and rep.
There’s also still the quest where you have to make sure that Amber Kearnen is assassinated, for the people who insist on having the point driven home that sometimes protecting the timeline is ugly and bad things need to be done.
There were so many other ways to highlight that point that didn’t involve making the player character enable SA, like holy cow. This is a good change.

Yes. The old blizzard crew is well known for dealing with topics such as sexual harassment (and worse) very maturely and seriously.

I honestly won’t care much and yeah doubt that’s gonna happen and befor you go “oh but quest” it’s the old gods not exactly any more trustworthy then the titans.
Talking like many years ago like are you aware of Sylvanas and her story before Alex Afrasiabi messed it all up? She was often considered a SA survivor cause her treatment by Arthas hit just so close to home for many survivors and was extremely well written. Unfortunately though her story started to go down hill around the time a serial abuser obsessed with Garrosh was given control of her character.
Like could go into further detail but busy with stuff so here enjoy.

My only problems with it were that we (the players) were complicit and that Chromie was crackin’ jokes.
I don’t mind dark tones in media, just give it the seriousness it deserves.
people will get sick of her, just like sylvannas. i’m tired of these perma visage form “dragons”…can’t wait to just kill all of them tbh

That video was 110% spot on. They understand the pain of being a Sylvanas fan now, and they even brought up some parallels that I cannot, sadly, unsee. Good riddance to Alex Afrasiabi.
