Maybe Blizzard should just avoid time traveling gimmicks, that requires a skill that no one at Blizzard currently possesses.

It has kind of been going on for a while so that’d be tricky.

Indeed, time travel is a messy affair.

She always escaped before. The original quest was about putting a misplaced Dragon Soul back where the Dragonmaw could find it, so that she “didn’t escape too early”. This version’s about moving a misplaced egg so that another character finds it and ensures she gets out after all.

Doesn’t matter, they will retcon the lore for a single quest if needed be. Thats why I hate wow lore, they have 100’s of retcons now and the story from years ago is not what happened anymore, no one knows the canon lore anymore.

I’m glad the old lore is still maintained at the least, and this version is better than the old.

I’ve been saying this since the announcement of Warlords of Draenor, but it seems almost no one can avoid using such a trope.

I think this change was for the better. It was understandable why people were upset with the old version. Personally, I’d rather be involved in the rescue instead of the capture and torture (among with other really bad things) so this is fine by me.

This should’ve been the quest from the start. Whichever dev thought it was smart to try and be like “ohhhhh, SA! let’s go with that!” should just be taken off of quest making.

this is essentially causing the events of Day Of The Dragon, where Rhonin and Krasus travel back in time and end up freeing Alexstrasza

A good change. I never understood why “protecting the true timeline” always has to be ensuring that the bad stuff happens. Only once were we asked to ensure something good happened - Thrall escaping Durnholde.

Protecting the timeline shouldn’t be all sunshine and rainbows, but it shouldn’t be all gloom and sadness either.

I thought the jailer was behind everything ?

Tbh I feel like the people who quit or talk trash about the lore have a point. Constantly catering to modern real world sensibilities when the game is supposed to be dark and driven by war is kinda mid.

I agree, what is the point in going back in time if not to stop something horrible from even happening?

“We go back to only observe, never change”

Ya, ok, well then I’ll just go read a book about it and take a nap if it’s all the same to you.

I’m personally of the mindset that there was absolutely no need for them to focus on the SA part of what happened to Alex. That brings up memories for alot of folk and I’m not keen on a quest triggering people’s trauma because a dev thought it was a good idea.

As we see with the quest redesign, there were other ways Blizzard could’ve gone about making the quest without touching on what is a sensitive topic for quite a number of people.
