REVISED: Heirlooms before 80 (level 77 Emblem of Heroism Farming)

VALUE OFFER: Get a 4 piece heirloom set for an alt, a nice blue tanking set for your pally while leveling from 77-79!!!

I ran a new spread sheet on the pre-level 80 quests which award Emblems of Heroism for Horde players.

There are 27 quests available (1 at 71 and 1 at 74) at level 77 which if completed would award 700,251 xp and 59 Emblems of Heroism for a solo player.

There are 28 quests available at level 77 which award 613,650 xps and 52 emblems, but require a GROUP.

For a total of 55 quests awarding 1,313, 901 xp and 111 emblems!

Those group quest drop an almost complete blue prot armor set plus a sword, among many other items.

Finally there are 4 daily dungeons quests available at level 78 which award 2 Emblems or Heroism and 2 of Conquest.

Basic heirlooms for a hunter alt (1 chest, 1 shoulder, a 2h weapon and Bow) would require 210 emblems, which could be earned after completing the above mentioned quests and then five days of doing the 4 dungeon dailies.

Is this post intended to be informational?

Some heirlooms can be purchased with Spirit Shards. I know these drop from doing dungeons when your faction owns Wintergrasp, but do they drop pre-80 in Normals? I feel like they do but now that I think about it, I’m not actually sure.

If you don’t have an 80 yet and still want heirlooms for your alt?? YES!

Soon as me and my buddies hit 77, we are going to run them all.

I have a Google Doc which is sorted by quest/zone as well.

Stonebreaker shards drop in normals in WOTLK dungeons. You can spend them if your faction controls WG, but they are different from EoH or Champions Seal heirlooms.

Cool, just making sure I understand the context of your post

Ok cool, so yea, you can use them to speed up your journey to get heirlooms. You’re absolutely correct in that they are different, so I suppose it depends on what your objectives are, but if you just want to get the XP boost for your alts, they slot in nicely.

I grabbed some to build a set for a dungeon solo prot warrior I’ve slowly been working on. I used Spirit Shards to fill in the gaps I had open from not having enough emblems and it’s been working out quite nicely.

Just offering it as an additional option

I understand, but with the broken dungeon finder, getting the StoneBreaker heirlooms is not working for me.

I have maybe 40 of those emblems and just the gun cost 325!!!

With this plan I can get a 4 piece heirloom set for my hunter and a blue tanking set for me while leveling!

THAT is the value!

Why do you want heirlooms for the last 1.5 of a level? You will gain so much xp gathering them from 77 on. 77 is when the leveling process starts to zoom by compared to earlier wotlk lvls. Seems like a waste of badges

There is also only 2 dung quests, and pretty sure you cant even do the normal one before 80 anyway

It’ll probably take more time farming those heirlooms than just leveling from 77 to 80 without them. Unless you plan on twinking using heirlooms at 79 or something I don’t really get the point of this.

I want heirlooms for my level 6 hunter.

I like heirlooms.

The value offer is obvious.

Emblems, blues while leveling.

Win win!

In that case leveling to 80 and just doing heroics and Naxx would likely be easier and more efficient. Hes already assuming he will be doing daily dungeon quests and part of the benefit of the quests is “an almost complete blue prot armor set plus a sword” which would almost certainly pale in comparison to what you could build by doing a handful of heroics or naxx 10.

The group quests in particular are an absolute road block to progressing your character unless you have a consistent group that wants to do them and is all at the same point of quest progress.

The point, at least for me, is the added benefit of doing those quests at level 80 for the gold, rep and tokens to buy heirloom gear.
