Revert the Prot Warrior nerfs next patch

Just read the Undermine PTR notes , and wow, they dumpstered Prot Warrior with this patch.

Protection

  • Developers’ notes: Protection Warriors are currently constantly flooded with Rage which undermines rotational defensive decision-making and encourages constant dumping of Rage into Ignore Pain to maximize effectiveness. We’re taking a pass at reducing Protection’s overall Rage generation to make decisions on when and how to spend it more meaningful, without reducing Protection Warriors’ ability to tank effectively.
  • Chance to reset the cooldown of Shield Slam from Devastator and Strategist reduced to 20% (was 30%).
  • Impenetrable Wall no longer increases Rage generated by Shield Slam.
  • Booming Voice causes Demoralizing Shout to generate 20 Rage (was 30).
  • Champion’s Bulwark no longer increases the Rage generated by Shield Charge.
  • Bloodsurge now causes damage from Deep Wounds to have a chance to generate 3 Rage.
  • Violent Outburst has been rebuilt to be easier to understand and track progress towards the next Outburst. Additional Rage generated from Violent Outburst reduced to 50% (was 100%).
  • Shield Wall cooldown reduced to 3 minutes (was 3.5 minutes).
  • Amount of damage ignored from each use of Ignore Pain increased by 30%.

They need to revert this, or else this spec will be dead last in tanks the rest of the expansion. What a joke!

I guess having people “balance” the game by reading spreadsheets instead of actually playing the game is how Blizzard does things around here.

What’s it like on the ptr? I use my prot warrior for delves. He’s amazing at it. So hopefully this doesn’t spoil it. I might give it a try tonight.

Don’t worry…Brewmasters will make sure Prot war won’t be dead last.

The rage changes will ensure prot never hits revenge again.

You’ll use it all on ignore pain for sure :joy:

It’s a shame because I really enjoyed prot this season with mountain thane

All those would almost be fine if Revenge damage was quadrupled along with the rest of their damaging abilities.

It’ll still be alright. The buff to IP offsets a lot of this

Idk about dead but nerfing rage gen (instead of thane rage gen) makes colo (which is bad) even worse and then slowing it down is something nobody wants so I don’t really understand these changes.

Let them nerf my favorite spec, it’s irrelevant because I’m a solo player now. lol

Warrior isn’t even Meta this is a cheap trick from Blizzard to get us to reroll. I’m starting to see why asmongold gives Blizzard such a hard time.

I assume distant second to prot paladin was too close.

Yeah, top tank gotta be 99%+ rep.

blizzard trying to get 50% of all melee to be paladin Lol.

You know what probably happened? One of Blizzard’s favorite streamers called Prot Warrior OP. Let someone like naguura call a spec OP it’s over. We get nerfed immediately.

LOL, for it to be worth the absolute annihilation of our rage generation, they’d have to make Ignore Pain 100% of its current value.

30% is 1-2 auto attacks from a M10+ trash mob

The worst nerfs aren’t the ones where Blizz says “this is too strong so we’re going to nerf it”. It’s the ones where they say “we don’t like the gameplay this creates” and it becomes just a worse version of the previous gameplay.

Meanwhile lets take a look at prot paladin which has a 400k plus player lead on prot warriors and is getting zero nerfs and also has one of the most played dps specs in the game right now. Ret paladin makes up 8.1% of all keys, that is an actually insane statistic and more than doubles almost every other specs play % in this game with only a few outliers.

Put that class in the ground rofl.

It’s funny, because even though the high-APM is kinda annoying for Prot Warrior, at least this class felt fluid in DF/S1 TWW.

Oh no. You’ll be sitting at 30 excess rage for 90% of the dungeon instead of 80

You’ll survive

We’re the favourite. flex

Tho for real I hope they make atleast one of the underplayed tanks really OP. Maybe Brew/Guardian.

VDH is currently broken on PTR but if they choose to keep it as it is, it’ll 100% be the play.

World of paladincraft is the future unfortunately.

They would need to give other tanks infinite interrupts like them, or revert the stop changes.

Their utility is insane, even when they’re DPS. While still having strong survivability and DPS that is pretty hard to mess up.

All that’s left is for our of the blue holy paladin buffs to make them an S tier healer too. Maybe give them a 4th Aug spec.

I am pretty sure that blizzard forgets guardian even exists. It’s ultra rare they get any patch notes at all, let alone the major rework they’d need to be overpowered

yep. the moment of the tier for me was when my guild’s ret switched to hpal and instantly started dying more than any other player on the raid team, extremely validating experience.
