A change like this should be done reactively, not proactively. Why not at least let the arena season play out and see what happens? Any competitively minded player would rather not play at all than play against NA players with 200-300 ping… and your average casual player is hurt by this the most because if there was a queue issue, it would only exist for the very high rated players. Every single player that I know, and have spoken to, is against this change. Please revert this ASAP.
You mean NA players playing against OCE players with 200ms+ ping. OCE was merged with us. Not the other way around. Go get your own region. Oh wait…
What does this “correction” add to the conversation exactly?
I was being a smartass because the merge was a stupid decision.
I… Yeah actually that’s pretty fair. I was going to say to direct that smartass energy more towards Blizzard but we both know they aren’t listening, they have abandoned this place.
Revert please bliz
This is insanity do they actually want to kill their oceanic playerbase? do they realise FF14 is releasing oce servers and then they pull this crap, it feels like every couple of weeks they do something infuriating and it makes me want to cancel my godamn sub
Not everybody is in Sydney. I’m in Asia and get literally the same ping in world and battlegrounds.
Why not make it opt-in if you want to queue into the NA battlegroup? I’m getting faster games now.
like where are you in the oce region to get faster que times than to sydney i am playing on the west coast of aus and i get on average 70 ms if this was such an issue the data centre should have been put into singapore
I’m in Vietnam, I get 150ms world and 150ms in game. Queues are on average 13 minutes currently (compared to 25-30 pre merge). There’s literally no compelling reason to NOT have this as an opt-in feature. You can’t stomach the ping? Just don’t queue into the NA battlegroup. Reverting this screws those of us who play later in the evening because the queues die off.
if your ping is worse connecting to AUS it make’s no sense that you would create your character on a OCE server rather than a NA server, que times are only high on horde alliance is at most a 5 minute que, as for playing later in the evening I’m not seeing a problem alliance side again I was queuing at 3 am last night and ques were still under 10 minutes, the problem is this change ruins Arena imagine fighting a USE team on their server your 350 ms to their 50 ms it’s unacceptable im not even going to bother with pvp if this change stays in there wont be a point to it may as well just allow cross server in open world while their at it such a terrible decision
You’re missing the point.
The ping is the SAME. It’s not worse. It’s 150ms to Aus, and 150ms to a NA Battleground.
I play horde, there are always more horde and we don’t get instapop queues like you guys do.
What I’m proposing is allow people to queue into the NA battlegroup if they wish. I see the argument around arena, but even then, for people like me it’s a non-issue (see above: same ping).
I’m not the only non-Aussie on the server, and you’re on the west coast, so saying to “create my character on an NA server” isn’t helpful. I have played NA servers on retail and didn’t stick around because nobody is online when you are doing things that aren’t BGs (and likewise, the battlegroup is as such that you play with OCE players anyway).
Nobody has come up with a compelling reason why there shouldn’t be the option to queue into the NA battlegroup if they wish. Just incessant “mah pings”. This is a fantastic QOL for battlegrounds, and if you don’t have the setup / don’t want to queue into NA - you don’t.
Yea so what I’m saying is the majority of oceanic has it worse than you now. if I connect to a USE server I get 300-350 ms, as for an opt in that would work and I don’t know why it wasn’t even considered by them sounds like an easy fix
Thinking back actually they already have this in Heroes of the Storm why couldn’t they just incorporate that system into wow
I’m well aware of the situation for the rest of Australia.
Opt-in IS an easy fix. They get to keep their intentions from the blue post congruent and they give the playerbase an option to take it or leave it.
The argument can be made for arenas to leave them locally (which I agree with to an extent) - but for battlegrounds there’s no reason not to give people the choice.
