I am a returning player, but I only want to play classic.
do I have to install the 70 gig of retail or can I just install classic
I don’t think so, just make sure the app launcher is up to date, and you have game time. Then you can pick the classic account from the drop down menu and choose install.
If you want to buy a token though, for game time, that is only available in the retail client.
Sure. Don’t have to install WoW 2019.
Note: Tokens only usable on WoW 2019, not available for Classic.
thanks have it installed, now just have to buy a game card…
You can get blocks of game time through the Blizz shop too (if you don’t want to setup a subscription):
I have a somewhat similar question: I’ve been away from WoW since WoD and am considering coming back. I’m on a free account at the moment and I’m hesitant to upgrade b/c I can’t figure out if my computer will handle running the game. Is there additional downloading required beyond the free account? I have only 9 GB left on my hard drive. I know I can extend that with an external hard drive, but not sure if I need to do so prior to upgrading.
The version you’re playing on is actually no different than a fully subscribed account. Assuming you’ve already completed the download (and didn’t halt it at “playable”), there shouldn’t be any additional data to download other than patches.
Also, your WoD account should still exist and would only require game time on it to access those characters as well as be able to level up to 110 without having to buy any additional expansions ![]()
Thanks, Perl!
I have no idea my account information, but it’s likely linked to my current email. I’ll try that route. Appreciate the quick response.
Billing can lend a hand too. As long as the account is in your name, they can help you to recover it
You might want to wait for Live Chat to open up in the morning.
