Returning player - Trade chat is terrible

Looking back at WOTLK through to Mop, i don’t remember trade chat being this dead. I don’t know if its just my server but nobody talks, there are no conversations no questions just people selling boosts.

I play on any other MMORPG and chat is filled with different people arguing or asking questions or just chatting away about random stuff. Wow has one of the worse chats and i have no idea how it happened or what is different about WOW compared to games like BDO, Classic, New World etc.

Just some feedback i think it would be good to just have a world wide channel and to create a new channel specific for boosters\LFR. Then just ban them when spamming in the wrong channel. This game needs a social pick me up and to do that we need a global chat and a new channel for boosting spam.

Be the change you want to see in the world, strike up a conversation.

And get verbally abused into oblivion that is if anyone even sees it among the non stop boost spam type /join LookingForGroup that is where people talk

Oh right lookingforgroup, thanks. I dont have any problem with toxic people. Its funny to me and if it really effects me i just put them on ignore. I have been playing BDO and that chat is basically the lowest of the low. However it does entertain during some grind.

I really dont understand why people are so afraid of toxic people in global chats. Its either funny/entertaining , or its a good chance to block somebody to avoid parties with them. Win win in my books.

Lfg is just as bad but you can see it everywhere and there are no ads in there.

Joining tradechat should require a slider captcha

Alot of players either left global channels or have them on a seperate tab hidden from view due to the amount of spamming.

Check out General Chat. Arguments abound.

Been playing for a bit now after re-subbing and all chats are just boosters. Nobody seems to be online other than boosters.

Here you go.

I thought part of a MMO was the social part! i guess im wrong !

I just transferred to a higher pop server and that made a big difference in terms of the kind of activity I see in Trade. Haven’t seen a single boost ad yet. And never say never, I’m sure I’ll see something at some point, but it’s a huge improvement compared to the server I came from, which was only medium pop.

Also, that may have more to do with it being an RP server than the population alone, since the social aspect is arguably a higher priority there. But this is anecdotal on my part, either way. :man_shrugging:

Honestly just turn it off. You don’t lose anything of value 99 percent of it is just boost spam

Your best bet would be to look for a guild of like minded people or to join an RP server where there is more focus on the social aspect rather than just hanging out in org trying to strike up random conversations with random people passing through.

ya logging into wow should require a captcha u know

I would rather have no chat than go back to the days of:

“Did someone say……”

And

Ana-l [random spell]

In trade chat? I’d rather run barefoot through a pit full of vipers.

/leave Trade

I do that on all characters

The community that existed no longer does. Theres several reasons why but most revolve around enchants and stuff being able to be put on the auction house. So there’s no reason to sell your wares in trade anymore, unless you are the gold run sellers.

In the past, it took time for reports to be reviewed and action taken. Now if you get enough reports, you get a automatic temporary silence until the reports are reviewed by a human. Also, in this time of human history, it seems like the majority can’t handle a joke, so they report EVERYTHING.

Here you get put in the corner for a while for any unacceptable comments. In game, your risking getting your account banned, which isn’t worth it for a silly joke. That’s why trade is nothing but boosting adverts.
