I’m a returning player after about 4 years. I re-subbed this morning and logged into the realm I had last been playing on, Myzrael. There were about 38 total players logged in the game for the Alliance. Not a single toon in Ironforge or Stormwind. I know most will be at higher levels in Dalaran, but I could only see a handful there.
Granted, it’s a west coast server and I logged in at 9am East coast time, but is this typical of wotlk classic realms these days?
If I wanted to transfer, what realm would anyone recommend for someone who just wants to level up a new toon from 1-80? Is that even a viable option these days, or will I be leveling up thru a ghostland with little to no option for dungeon groups and such?
Myzrael and Azuresong took a nose dive in population when the servers were offered free transfers.
There might be still free transfers off though.
Otherwise, unless you wish to pay, you may have to wait until they get closer to the Cata prepatch/release to see if they create some server clusters (like in Era). Which they should do.
Some of the servers you could combine and never notice any real difference.
I’m also new to Progression Classic, and I’m going on Grobbulus. Weird waiting lobby for me, since I basically want to play a Dwarf Shaman (my retail main ATM)
Mostly want to cazh it, world PvP, tol barad.
Grobbulus. It is the best server BY FAR. Strong population, relatively balanced. Wpvp, interesting characters. It captures the spirit of WoW in a way the mega servers do not.
