Returning player... I regret my decision

12 years playing this game and this corruption system is probably the worst thing designed. This eye thing doing 30k dmg every second spawning randomly and this illusion that slows you down… omg. In pve is ANNOYING af but in pvp is just… honestly is just makes me want to punch my monitor. I know that I can farm mementos and remove corruption from items… but to do this I have to do like 29 quests so I can finally get my legendary cloak, unlock visions and get mementos… atleast thats what I understand from this Third Party website, smh what am I supposed to do? downgrade my ilvl and use old items, spend the next 2-3 days doing this questline and farming mementos so I can finally use my corrupted 440 ilvl item.

Now that I think about it, what if I just wanted to resub and do pvp/bgs/arenas? I wouldnt be able to do it, because even pvp rewards can have corruption so you are literally forced to do all of this? Jesus Christ.

This whole expansion had so many annoying features… from Bwonsamdi laughing at you when you die or get ganked to this terrible designed corruption system. Like I said, 12 years playing and this is the expansion that made me rage so much while playing it. Not even dota made me feel this.

Oh come on, that was funny. Bwonsamdi was one of the few things they got right in this expansion.

Well, big issue I think is you expected to resub and just be able to jump in?

I agree, Corruption is bad. Really bad, it’s a poor design. But you aren’t just going to be immediately jumping in and being able to do stuff if you’ve been gone for some time.

Above all else, this is an RPG; RPGs come with quests in new patches, and those quests have led to a powerful item that allows you to manage the corruption. The intro questing takes about 2-3 hours which is fairly tame in the ground scheme of things.

In the past, resubbing would have required you to grind gear to be able to perform. In this patch, doing a 2-3 hour quest line to get a very powerful item isn’t asking for much, and it helps you manage your corruption.

With the above said, anything that makes you want to punch your monitor isn’t worthwhile. I say calm down, take one step at a time, and don’t let it control your anger that much.

You’re over thinking things My friend. Its just old for you and nothing new is gonna feel new anymore.

Takes a damn good game to run us dry after years and years of playing it.

You don’t have 1-2 hours to do a questline for a legendary cloak that you wont replace until the next expansion?

So I am finally playing again after the pre-Legion patch fiasco, and I have no idea what you’re talking about, but it sounds horrible. Am I going to regret my decision too?

You’ll be fine. This isn’t the place to go if you want positivity about the game.

Never use the forums for a gauge on your enjoyment of the game. Enjoy the journey to 120 and take things in stride at max level.

Please do not let other people make up YOUR mind. Gotta find out yourself

Agreed, I was happy the first time I died in Zandalar, because Bwonsamdi mocked me out for it.

Yeah I do not think you get get. This guy played 12 years so he has played WoW when the game has a functioning design that made sense.

Sorry but you cannot play WoW right now without doing sims. Do you know how soul crushing it is to have 415 blue gear with great corruption be better then thing you got clearing heroic or Mythic?!?!?

I saw this design and immediately hit the unsub button. No developer should ever be rewarded for implementing such a poorly thought out system.

Possibly.
Do you intend not to do the quest for the cape and embrace the ravings of a mad god, that he may gift you potent boons which in turn may lead to your doom on your gear-strewn path of conquest?

I’m not going to deny this expansion has had a lot of terrible systems. It’s the very reason why I basically skipped all of last year and came back for 8.3 … And even though I enjoy the risk vs reward and mixing and matching of corruption affects, I really do hate the whole micromanagement of corrupted gear.

That said, just based on how you described your experience with corruption is proof enough that you have no idea what you are doing. In addition, since you obviously have the patience and attention span of a 10 year old with ADD, I can’t see you ever getting it. My recommendation is to simply quit until Shadowlands.

This guy knows what life is about

you onyl need 10 or 5 mementos to clear your corruption. why havent you one that?

Then don’t play until then do you want some cheese with your whine?

Have to agree. RNG to the nth degree. I’m all for some randomness when it comes to loot but Corruption takes it to another level.

The way I figure it a regular item or loot has now what? 6 different RNG factors?:
Character Slot
iLevel
Stats
Secondary Abilities
Corruption
Corruption Tier

I may be wrong or possibly forgetting a factor but it’s just nuts. Just reinforces my decision to continue being a “Filthy Casual”.

H

Thats nice and 100% fair if you feel that way. But I personally believe if someone feels like unsubbing forever over a gear effect that blizzard has said is for this patch only then the issue has little to do with the gear.

through life there are just alot of games people put down or pick back up/put down and forget. Time goes on and if they’ve played wow for years and years no matter how good wow is there gonna be a day that person logs in and see 500mounts and not want to grind another,or get new gear, or…anything.

Thats just life.

There’s no longer ilvl on that list but you forgot sockets. XD

So yeah, if you’re in a raid/dungeon setting it’s:

  1. Do you get a piece?
  2. If yes, what piece on the loot table do you get?
  3. Does it get a socket?
  4. Does it get a tertiary stat?
  5. If not a trinket, does it corrupt?
  6. If it corrupts, what ability does it get?
  7. If it corrupts, what tier of that ability do you get?

I want gear to be gear again. I hated Titanforging, but Corruption is definitely worse.

I have to disagree with you on this. It is the fact at one point this was a real good game that created the loyalty that prevents players from leaving. This xpac is not really good. In fact, at this point it is hard to argue that it is better than Warlords was. People are hanging on because they “hope” that Shadowlands will be a good xpac.

I suspect that if it is another BFA, people will finally begin to bail.
