I’m fairly new to WOW and love the game! However, Dragonflight feels like a complete waste of money. Dragonriding is flat out awful in every single aspect and being forced to do it and not having a choice of using previous flying mounts is extremely frustrating! So what is the policy for returning an expansion?
Thanks! So I’m screwed! Lesson learned I guess. No more pre orders.
Spend an hour or two just collecting all the glyphs to completely skill up the dragon riding tree. It’ll make a world of difference.
Addons like tomtom or handy notes while show the exact location of the glyphs, and just flying around will teach you the nuances of dragon flight.
Due to the sheer size of the zone maps, I could not fathom doing this expansion without dragon flying.
I appreciate the advice, but that’s the problem. I stopped after getting my main to level 70 because I hated it. Went back earlier tonight to do exactly what you said and after 10-12 attempts to get the one by the docks that is a mile high and failing because I didn’t have enough stamina I just gave up. I don’t play video games to be frustrated and no other aspect of WOW has frustrated me since I picked the game up a few months ago. It’s just not for me. Luckily I have enough content to keep me busy until Blizzard has to cave and put regular flying in the dragon isles. Love the game, but I’m not putting anymore money into it until I can finally play the content I paid for. It’s all good!
The only thing I can advise is to go after the easy ones first to build up your talents to get to the harder glyphs.
Stamina/vigor is a function of having enough talents to increase them.
There are some guides on YouTube too that help people knock out the glyphs and the exploration achievements. I ended up using them to get the last 4 I needed.
I’d give that a go, because Vigor stops becoming such an issue once you get the upgrades. The only glyph that may be a bit of a struggle to get without the Dragonride talents is Thaldrazus Apex, that one’s a bit crazy.
Until you’ve skilled up to having five and six Vigor, my advice for getting to high glyphs would be to get up as high as you can and find a spot to land and allow your Vigor to regenerate, then fly as high as you can again and find a new, higher perch. You don’t have to get there in one nonstop flight.
As you get more glyphs and are able to raise your dragon riding skill, you’ll be going from a max of 4 Vigor to ultimately 6, and it will replenish faster, both while you’re on the ground and while you’re flying at speed.
I actually felt very similar to you and became frustrated with myself, not the game, for being so bad at Dragonriding. But, like with all new things I have to learn I had to put my mind to it and just keep at it no matter how frustrated I got. I’m not one for giving up on something I love and WoW is one of those things.
One thing I did learn that made it a little easier was how to use the in-game navigation system to help me. It won’t help you get all the way to the top to get some of the harder to reach Dragon Glyphs, but it will help you get there without having to constantly land to tab out to view the map to see where you’re going or if you’re close.
Here’s what I posted for my guild mates:
Go into the Options menu and under Gameplay → Interface scroll down to Display and turn on (make sure it’s checked) In Game Navigation. This will allow an in game navigation arrow. with the distance to your destination, appear on your screen to a pin-pointed location.
To pin-point locations, simply open your world map and click on the quest or World Quest you want to go to. This will add it to your quest objectives on the right of your screen. Mount your dragon and you’ll see the navigation arrow pop up in the direction you should go and it’ll show a countdown of the distance you need to travel. If your destination is not a quest or world quest on the map, you can use the in game map pins (the one people use to pin rares) to pin a location on your map, click on it so it’s highlighted, and that becomes the destination for your in game navigation.
I hope this helps you just a little bit.
Couple of dragon riding tricks.
1.the best angle to maintain you current speed as log as possible is flying at 92 degrees from vertical.
2. Normally, when you double-jump to gain altitude while flying, you loose speed. However, if you point upwards just before double-jumping, you will still be at your current speed after your ascent. Takes a bit of practice to get the timing right, but not more than a few minutes worth.
I too am disappointed, level up killing almost everything with not much difficult get to level 69 get higher level gear put it on now cannot kill anything I mean to go from killing rare elites, put the upgrade gear 2 quests what can’t I can’t finish every time I sign on it takes forever then when I do sign on it’s a frozen screen for some time and there’s no way to get help well no where that isn’t a big pain in the derriere
not necessarily. it may be more than 14 days but if you’ve played 2 hours or less they will do it
This is an unfortunate side effect of the level scaling system, not specifically Dragonflight. As the scaling is gauged by character level, once you hit level cap there is no where for the enemies to scale to, so they instantly jump up to their designed difficulty. That power gap will diminish over time as stronger gear comes out with the later patches.
This can usually be attributed to two possibilities, the biggest culprit of which is network-related, which is most often some obstruction between your access point and Blizzard’s servers, rarely directly at either end. The second would be addons. A third possibility could be server congestion, which is just a matter of waiting.
- punctuation helps instead of one long run on sentence.
- are you doing group quests?
- needs tech support.

I truly think that, given a little more time, you may grow to love this expansion. It’s also hard for me to see this side of it because I love dragon riding. Either way I hope you find what you’re looking for.
Thank you! I will give this a try.
