Return of the buff: Joyous journey

A lot of people are asking for this, reinstating this buff right before new content patches could really help people fix what blizz cant fix by itself. Balanced and viable servers players proportions. Keep letting server balance go to hell to force players into offers of services they dont need compared to if you actually made a better system for servers balance.

I have alliance characters on Sulfuras and its dying fast. I will not yield precious money that could net me a full new AAA game on characters transfer/faction change. Its highwayman business. I humbly suggest you update your scummy business model. Its not clever to break systems cohesion to then offer services on the side that fixes them.

Thank you and have a nice day nonetheless.

Joyous Journey’s does not bring server balance.

XP buffs are one of the reasons why low levels are dead. They do not help the game. You should be against this and boosts, if you care about the game.

Nothing’s forcing you to buy those services; the first character I made in Classic got to level 51 as a Gnome Mage before being deleted…because I made the decision to make an Alliance character on Mankrik.

You’re also outright stating this is a problem creating by Blizzard, who while they have serious issues that’d probably get me a timeout if I spelled any of them out for everyone outside of saying “Bobby Kotick,” isn’t actually responsible for the faction balance on each server; that’d be the players of those servers. It turns out that a lot of people don’t really want things like open-world PvP wasting their time when they’re trying to quest around STV or HFP.

Outside of more server merges or cross-faction instancing in things other than Battlegrounds, it’s either start over somewhere else or get used to the idea of living on a dead server.

All that happens with jj is 4 weeks of alts lvling and then months of posts requesting jj be brought back. Im not sure how this balances or fixes anything.

Jj was always a side piece. It was meant for prepatch and nothing else. Blizzards mistake was bringing it back before ulduar.

I had one of my accounts lapse today and my other one lapses April 16. I might resubscribe when they add JJ again otherwise I am WoW retired.

Hate to admit this but yea, I got 3 alts sitting there that I have zero desire to level up. JJ just might inspire me to finish leveling them again.

Agreed. I’d be much more motivated to play alts if it wasn’t painful.

Wrong. Joyous journeys absolutely gets players leveling alts.

That’s exactly when they bring it back… right before new content patches, so not sure why make a thread when you’re literally asking for exactly what they’ve been doing already. It doesn’t fix anything. All it does is increases the leveling population for a month, and then people hit max, and start raid logging like their mains. It literally fixes nothing for the long haul. They’d have to bring it back as a permanent thing, so people continue to level alts. However even once that happens, people will reach max, and go right back to raid logging within 2 weeks of hitting 80. You can continue to level alt after all, but eventually you’ll have everything you’re interested in, and raid logging on all of them.

I’m not being sarcastic when saying this, but are you new here? Population balance has been going down hill since mid classic, and completely when to crap in TBC. Heading into Wrath there were very few pvp servers that were not already at at least a 30/70 split, like Sulfuras. They locked Sulfuras to transfers back in September, and here we are nearly 6 MONTHS LATER, the realm is still locked and Sulfuras has an alliance population of less than 1k players, it’s now like a 10/90 split, horde dominate.

What you’re asking for is what we’ve all been asking for, for not just months… but years. At this point, we’re screaming at a wall. Don’t worry though. A paid transfer, paid character boost, or a paid faction change will solve your problem!

I would argue vanilla and tbc content are why low levels are dead. JJ atleast makes it tolerable.

If anyone is like me, the buff encourages me to create and level alts and gets you closer a level faster where you get a genuine feel for how the class/spec plays rather than running around with 2-3 abilities at best for a few days wondering if you even enjoy that class.

Usually I agree with what you say, but I disagree with this. Take away the ability for people to enjoy the time they spend playing the game, and you’re losing the players. I I used to believe dungeon boosting was bad for the game, up until we hit late TBC and I realized, you can’t force people to play how you want them to. Dungeon boosting got nerfed and all of a sudden levelers started fizzling out. There were less and less people out questing, less and less people running dungeons and it was getting harder and harder to find pugs for entry level content. I thought if blizzard removed the ability to dungeon boost people would be forced to play the game the old fashion way, and it did-- but to my surprise, it seemed most chose to simply stopped leveling their alts instead if they could no longer dungeon boost.

When dungeon boosting services were a thing, people were at least playing… leveling alts. There were people interested in doing entry level content like Kara because people still had fresh level 70 alts in greens, even once we reached BT. Now people would just rather only log in on raid nights or unsub than level an alt. If I gotta do the same 10,000 quests to reach 80 on my alt for the 14th time, at least JJ makes it easier to tolerate.

What’s bad for the game is sucking the fun out of every single possible way to have it. What’s bad for the game is losing players to completely preventable things. What’s bad for the game is poor management and neglect. What’s bad for the game is forcing people to play the game a certain way, and that’s exactly what all these changes have done, and look where it’s gotten us. No one wants to level.

Totally would love jj back. I’ve leveled 3 characters to 80 and I’m just tired of it.

That being said it’ll probably make faction balance worse. It’s a more involved ‘free transfer’, right?

We have faction balance issues for a number of reasons and most are player related.

The only way they can help is locking servers and buffing racials. Both will probably cause these forums to throw a fit.

Which at that point it’s not longer a buff; we just earn 50% more XP PERIOD. I always (correctly) feel like I’m in the minority with thinking the leveling pace in Vanilla Classic was pretty good, but I understand where people come from with faster leveling after that first character.

Personally, I agree. I like the leveling pace of vanilla, but I understand not many do. I work remote so I can play for 5-6 hours a day with ease, sometimes considerably longer if I have nothing much going on that day, but I get not everyone can do that, and many people wanna just get on and do the content they deem fun, which more a majority seems to be max level content, simply because once you’ve done the leveling process 10+ times, which I’m sure I can speak for nearly all of us when saying, most of us have done it – we don’t wanna level no more, we just wanna get to the parts of the game that we have fun with.

Leveling stops being fun once it gets to be repetitive and feel more like a chore than anything else. I wanna play, and I don’t mind leveling a few character, but by alt #3, I don’t have it in me mentally to do the same zones and quests for the 15th time. Like people are actually unsubbing rather than leveling legit. Without increased XP, and no other xp compensation like the additional XP from RDF, or dungeon boosts, and only allowed 1 paid boost per sub, people are saying they rather not even play than pay to play a game where they have to put in 100+ hours to even get to the part they want to play.

Well, it is a double edged sword. Now we (the players) have had a taste of JJ buff we stop leveling until JJ comes back, or at least put it on a low priority of “things to get done in game”.
It’s strangely comparable to…oh I dont know…AV weekend… what are the queue times like on a random Wednesday for the <80 AV brackets vs AV weekend???

I have a mixed feeling about this.

It will encourage me to level my last DPS toons, but it also pushes tanks and healers off the low level market in a flash, leaving some anti questers behind.

In fact I am trying to keep my pally tank to stay on low 70s to help anybody to do dungeons, but with JJ, I would not be able to touch him, even just farming herbs in Sholazar, since high level monster kills would give him too much exp.

[Edit] I am aware we can turn it off at any inn, but it feels awkward to turn it off just to stay on level.
