My friend sent me a gift containing blizzard balance, but I can’t use it for the thing he sent it for. Is there any way that I can return that balance to him or am I just stuck with a bunch of money that we can’t use?
The person who gifted it to you could see if they can get a refund. They’d need to out in a ticket I believe to see if they can get one.

Yeah, we’re trying that now, we are hoping that that will work so that we can take a different approach.
Just out of curiosity, what is it that you are unable to use the Balance for?
If it was setting up a subscription, that is intended as Balance isn’t a recurring payment system.
However, the Shop does have blocks of game time that you can purchase with Balance.

Which for the bulk of the currencies are (significantly) more expensive than the subscription prices…
CAD, CLP, MXN, BRL, and ARS all have higher costs for 1-off game time purchases rather than just purchasing a recurring sub.
It’s only USD, AUD, NZD and JPY which have the same price for both.

Yeah we were trying to get me a WoW subscription but we didn’t look into it prior to the balance gifting.
Yes, that does affect which purchase type is the best financially speaking.
Buy a block of game time with it then.
