Rets stopping ray of frost?

https://www.twitch.tv/videos/2029936554 - happened 3 times that game

if he wasn’t on global he would do it instantly

how?

bump??

Only thing I can think of is a weird interacting with the Ret talent that give you snare dispel when you Consecrate. See if he does it the other two times in your vod

Blessing of Spellwarding or Bubble or 3yrd interupt would do it, but you were not interupted and I didnt see him bubble. Possibly used BoS while you were so far away from him you didnt see the animation for Blessing of Spellwarding above his head. But when he was 16 or so yards from you he took magic damage and I didnt see BoS cast after that. Odd for sure

You can actually verify that he is running that pvp talent as well, since you see the swirly ball when he consecrates.

He didn’t in the clip

I can’t load the video on my phone but was this it? If not I was thinking the PvP judgement dispel talent might dispel a debuff on the Ret and end the cast.

Vod only shows 1 ray of frost cast, but the ret pressed consecration and ray of frost stopped. Swirly ball after consecration confirms he had the hallowed ground pvp talent.

Hallowed Ground - Spell - World of Warcraft (wowhead.com)

ray of frost counts as a slow

This honor talent removes and suppresses all slows.

I’m going to go out on a limb and assume that freedom, which immunes these same mechanics, doesn’t work?

So would freedom also cancel ray?

haven’t seen enough mages complaining about such an interaction, so i kinda doubt it

no freedom only immunes the slow part.

Weird buggy interaction

So using wowhead since simc doesn’t keep spelldata on honor talents,

Hallowed ground
Effect Dispel Mechanic (Snared)

Bloodrage
Effect #2 Dispel Mechanic (Snared)

does bloodrage work?

After I looked at it a bit more, I’m thinking he used a pvp talent called hollowed ground, This removes all snares and slows when paladin is in their own consecration. If the ability that got interrupted has a snare or slow component, that might be why it got interrupted.

Possibly, here is another highlight of ray stopping instantly during his searing glare, no censecration as far as I can tell: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/2030389431

I guess that is normal but I thought I pressed it right after the searing glare. I also wasn’t blinded for 4 seconds? does it not actually “disorient” you? what does it dr with if it doesn’t disorient you? lol

Searing glare causes a 4 second debuff that causes all your attacks to miss for the duration. You had the debuff when you casted ray of frost, causing it to miss and do nothing.

It doesn’t actually cc your char just makes you miss like Battlecruisr said. If you notice a ret is running this and just tossing it out there a good thing to do is save counterspell for it then immediately flurry>ray of frost him once he’s locked out.

I see, does it dr with normal blind then? but the ray stopping on consencration is weird asf.

There’s no dr as it’s not a cc school. You’re not disoriented like during blind, you just have a debuff that causes all attacks to miss.
