The rework was fantastic. They’re amazing fun to play now.
And this post is for those FOTM Paladins that are stating that the Retribution Paladins nerfs aren’t warranted.
PvP nerfs aside… i don’t see a reason for any PVE nerfs, it’s Ret’s time to shine there.
On the one hand, spamming to make a point is known to be their style.
on the other, the data you’re giving is not actually enough to suggest that it’s a problem, especially without any form of context around it.
If anything, it shows that class balance is currently pretty good.
Protection Paladins replacing the healer role and Retribution Paladins ruining the end season for Solo Shuffle due to the rework have now been proved otherwise.
When a prot paladin can heal a high RLP key, I’ll believe it’s a problem.
Frost Mage second to last. Of course.
So, you are saying a DPS class that has underperformed for quite some time now doesn’t deserve to be #1 for a while?
It’s annoying when they’ve just had a rework and everyone’s all like “welp, SOMEONE’S gotta be at the top!” while ignoring the fact ret palas are way too survivable for how good their damage is.
This rework just happened, and it’s quite clear even on the dev’s own admissions that paladins (ret) are too strong.
Hunters can’t survive nearly as well, so if paladins are going to do that much damage and be invulerable, then they need a hammer to the knees in terms of self-healing and stuns and whatnot.
Fair is fair. And it’s clearly unbalanced, lol.
They JUST had a rework, and if you really think ret paladins, by design, are supposed to be the #1 dps class, please share with me what you are smoking.
They are paladins. They were never meant to be top dps, because they are too tanky, even as ret.
What are you tanking as ret in PVE? lol
Womp womp.
How so? A dps can’t dps if they’re dead.
They are though lol, hence Blizzard is making a major change to the WoW Dragonflight meta on April 11 and 12, as the four-DPS strategy that’s been starting to permeate throughout Mythic+ dungeons might be gone as quickly as it burst on the scene.
Ret paladins aren’t suppose to be good so Blizzard will probably nerf them a few times before RWF season 2 is over.
The upcoming nerf to Protection Paladins will reduce the healing done by Word of Glory up to a maximum of 100 percent based on the target’s missing HP, down from the current 250 percent. This nerf could potentially impact the popularity of four-DPS compositions in high Mythic+ keys and Mythic Dungeon International global finals, as Protection Paladins have been successful as a replacement for dedicated healers in these compositions. How do you not know what’s going on in high lvl comps lmao, or are you pretending to be this ignorant?
What does it matter that Paladin is the top? As others have already said, one class is going to be. Why not Paladin?
I’ll be the first to agree that ret is far too tanky right now but the idea that they shouldn’t do top DPS is bologna.
Every DPS spec is measured by their output. Therefore, there is no room for balancing based on class fantasy or who is a pure DPS or a hybrid or melee or ranged. In order to be viable, everyone needs to do pretty close DPS, and the only room for flavor is in the damage profile (maybe the ST spec is bad at AOE or another spec is good at both but not the best at either, etc).
But the same is true for defensives. If you are not tanky enough, you are also not viable. Tankiness should be relatively comparable across the DPS specs, and the only room for flavor ought to be in the profile (this spec is good at self sustain, that spec is good at DR/absorbs, that spec has immunity and DR, etc).
Before the buff, Ret paladins were not tanky enough. After the buff, they are more than twice as tanky as DK’s and Warlocks, and that’s a big problem.
The nerf explicitly targeted their self sustain, and while I think either SoV or DP is also going to need a longer cooldown, we can calm down and wait a week to see how the self sustain nerf actually effects them.
Well, maybe this is what happens when people spend the entire season whining about healing checks in M+.
I only PvP so that’s pretty much my perspective- rets are too defensively strong, and killing one is a hell of an experience, in a bad way.
PvE, I could care less, but the problem is still there. Hunters die all the time because they’ve got two defensives that are among the worst in the game, and yet they aren’t getting reworked.
Paladins have always had strong defenses. Sure, damage may have sucked, but they cannot be allowed to have both. Same deal with Warlocks, Spriests, whatever classes have self-healing and sustain- their damage needs to be pulled back as a result.
thats cute that you actually believe this. the only thing that gets pushed up the chain is customer support issues. the rest is just leaving us in a cesspool of rage. they dont need info on what calsses are over performing because they have access to all the data and more that the 3rd party sites have. they base thier decisions for class balancing on that. not warcraft logs
