Except its not nice because its based on your burst, and you’ll always be on your target for your burst, and you’ll be forced to use it as damage and not as mobility.
Realistically, the current iteration of FR would need to change to accommodate this turn of event. It would admittedly feel bad to get into the fight without HoPo with an effect that increase your spenders or use it on CD for the burst damage and not the mobility.
The basic idea stays appealing. It would need to be more along the line of Flying serpent kick kinda damage maybe drops consecration on arrival to go around pressing it and not relying on consecrated blade proc.
And if they give it to all Paladins, it doesn’t really help Ret very much unless they manage to make both Holy and Prot useless.
It’s going to be a good bonus for M+, where the slots are limited so you may not have a prot or holy pally in the team or other ressers.
And let’s be real, if the holy pally on your M+ team dies, who’s gonna ress him? xD
I still want(think we need) some kind of ret exclusive bonus though, for raiding.
If blizz doesnt do anything after those words, my hope will go away with my steed… probably wont go too far cuz its only 3sec of 100% speed and even the steed can be slowed so… yeah its that
We got enough shenanigans with fury’s leaper legendary, let’s not get carried away
As much as people hate WoD (because there weren’t enough raids or something - as a non-raider then I didn’t care at all, it was great) it had THE best version of paladin to ever exist.
Literally just copy and paste that spec over please, the Legion rework and all that came after, was a disaster.
Nice pathing update today for the class tree.
Really opens up our options a bit more.
Now there still is the issue of throughput being very prominent with some bland node but that’s nice progress.
Yep just hoping we get the talent revamp we need this month, because I really doubt we would get a proper overhaul in October and beyond.
It’s really astounding of how hard they’re pushing their “vision” of the Ret tree when they know how hated Divine Steed is and their only (and very vague) description of Ret is a “crusader”. We all know the definition of a crusader, but since when are “crusaders” slow, immobile and squishy? Shouldn’t crusaders have iron willpower and the ability to keep moving forward? Currently, Ret does not have the defensive capabilities or mobility to do this. I know this has been said before a thousand times, but the fact that they refuse to address anything about Ret’s playstyle, rotation, validation for lack of mobility and compensation for lack of mobility, what differentiates Ret from other specs further proves of how out of touch the dev team is with this specialization, and the Paladin class as a whole.
Another egregious thing is that we don’t really bring anything that our other two, more desirable specs do, unless our damage is obnoxiously high, we are pretty much a filler pick which is an awful design if you ask me.
I get the feeling that Ret is primarily designed for PvP, but even then the only real good thing about it is that it does insane amounts of damage during wings, which is, again, just lazy design.
what game are you playing?
I think he means that everything that they refuse to give/change, are based on how op it would be in pvp cause of our high burst.
Which IF thats what he means its very true.
What? Pretty sure its the exact opposite. We don’t have any cc, we don’t have defensives and then we don’t have mobility.
Ret is honestly just doing damage constantly and a trinket sanc bot on healer to stop a go.
PvP talents are stronger than the pve talents too. Not gonna lie.
Precisely, without bringing some form of utility that isn’t covered by either Prot or Holy, Ret is only a good pick for PvE when doing insane amounts of damage, which in turn makes it a pain in the *** to balance in PvP because of the class design’s of only doing damage during bursts.
Which is just really bad design. Damage is a bad metric for engagement and fun measurement, moving away from just being bursty would help with this.
I said this in another thread but the logic is that:
With the overwhelming capacity to dish out damage in a short amount of time comes the drawbacks of being kitable. Counter play is a core mechanic of most PVP game nowadays.
This in turns means that the mobility must be sub-par, the CC must be sub-par and the defensive’s must be sub-par to counter balance the damage.
All those considerations are moot in PVE since you play against a computer but take all their senses against other players who would feel (rightfully so) pretty helpless in front of Ret damage if they could easily stick to their target with improved mobility, stuns and defensive.
That is why many people, including me, get the weird feeling that our class is balanced around PVP. Because having our burst and some improved mobility/defensive’s wouldn’t be broken in PVE and would just make the class more fun to play and yet is denied for reason that are unclear. While those reason would be apparent from a PVP standpoint.
I’m not saying that’s what’s going on, I merely share how it feels.
God i wish pvp would F off and die lol. I enjoy pvp, i really do. But balancing anything in this game for pvp ,the by far least played aspect of wow, is asinine.
Wish they would have added in a real pvp tree so we could finally seperate the two and improve some classes/specs.
I can agree here, I don’t mind pvp but the game should not be balanced around it. They can balance pve and pvp seperately as they have proven, but then the balance of the Ret damage profile is so dependent on burst that they should look at changing that first and then they will find an easier time to balance the spec in both pve and pvp.
